umm... sorry, but they do. was at the gig in london last night and they closed with 'arms like boulders'.also played 'comin through', that's off that future weather EP which is a bit older than the last two records.

ah sorry, i just looked at one recent setlist and saw nothing from it so assumed they'd stopped playing songs from it. my mistake!

i haven't listened to it but was listening to a song from it earlier (Taking The Farm) and it's brilliant. shall have to download it and give it a listen

doubt we'll get anything from it at Glastonbury, mind

it's very rare for a band so early on (and on the Pyramid, no less) to be one i'm most excited for but i really can't wait for this. i usually end up missing the first acts on due to being so fucked from the night before but i'd hate myself for missing these

Watched these in London on Tuesday, they were excellent. Lead guitarist/vocalist is brilliant, played a very good cover of John Lennon - Mind Games in the encore as well

No encore last night.

"Good night Springton. There will be no encore"

How was his playing though? Looking forward to him at Glasto.

As good as ever - about as beautiful as music can get.

Though the format of the show is pure, unadulterated hardkore kora duets with his kiddywink, so might be a tough sell for the Pyramid crowd. I thought he might do a few numbers with his band to gee things up a bit rhythmically and get some dancing happening, but they were unaccompanied and it was pretty medatitive and serene - so might get a wee bit lost on the big stage.

quite looking forward to this on the sunday. won't be as good as Amadou & Mariam were on the sunday in '09, but still..it's a good early pyramid booking for the last day.

This thread has references to

Springsteen

Dire Straits

FM

the 80s

you're all saying this like they're good things.

Not read much of this thread but watched it grow and thought heck I'd better check these guys out

They make Coldplay sound like punk - most middle of the road thing I've heard in ages and exactly the sort of thing I'd expect to be lambasted here

You lot are full of surprises :-)

And just for the record, coldplay aren't fit to be these guys' roadies, never mind be compared in a superlative way.

haha exactly what I mean, it's definitely part of the joy of it all - we share the love of music, not some specific genre. I think eclectic taste is almost a prerequisite

Knew the Coldplay reference would get a rise tho

I've decided I'm going Special Guest into Blondie and missing War on Drugs.

I will hopefully catch them in Bristol in November anyway.I am just unsure how they would perform on such a large stage as the Pyramid, would have been there if they were playing Park.

Maybe a Thursday William's Green set, that would be lovely?!

I was lucky enough to sing with him in Bamako a few years back. Really nice guy, can't wait to see him again. Wish it was more intimate, but at least it means a lot of new people get to see him.

Glad it's not just me. Loads of people keep telling me I'd like these, I've listened to a few tracks on Spotify and wasn't getting it and then someone handed me a copy of their latest cd last week and said "You'll like these".

So I listened to it on a long car journey today. Man alive it's dull stuff, I don't get the Springsteen reference at all, maybe some of his duller 80's output but that's at a push. One track was really bugging me as I thought I recognised it but couldn't put my finger on it, then it hit me... It's Young Turk by Rod the Mod!

Are the older CDs the same or is the latest one a bit of a departure?

The Malians need to up their game this year. After being all over the line-up last year they're barely even representing this time around.
