Thats guys the worst type of music fan, blinkered by their own opinion being gospel and stuck in a timewarp were the music you have to like is dictated by genre.

Its 2014 nobhead and the walls that used to divide the fans of different genres are no longer there, thats why Glastonbury can book a lineup as diverse as this years safe in the knowledge that the people who attend have broad and diverse tastes in music.

Very blinkered view. from my personal experience heavier bands have always gone down well at Glastonbury. QoTSA went down really well up against possibly the biggest pop star in the world at the time. The crowd loved Smashing Pumpkins and Dinosaur Jr last year, and got into all of those bands much more than when i seen them play at Leeds Festival. Jimmy Eat World played much harder at Glastonbury than they did when i saw them at Leeds a few months later.

Royal Blood will go down a storm too this year too and they are playing Download.

I love rock and heavy music but i love Glastonbury for discovering other music that i would never have thought i would enjoy and anyone who has been knows that once you walk through that gate, you are in a small magical town where the best part of 200,000 people just want to have as much fun as possible.

Take last year for instance, me and my 13 year old daughter had and amazing hour at the Hip-hop karaoke after going on a wander up to the Park area. What other festival would you be able to do that?

Glastonbury is like a cup final for bands, Metallica could easily play out of their skin but could also choke and go down badly. They could play the gig of their lives and still not connect with the crowd. That's what makes seeing them this time more exciting than any other time i have seen them.

i'm absolutely loving seeing how much some people are hating this. i think it's hilarious, from the indie Glasto regulars who are distraught at having a metal band headline, to the metalheads who are pissed off that their beloved band dare play a non-metal festival where they'll actually have to win over the crowd rather than have them eating out of the palms of their hands from the get go

The only point he makes which I slightly agree with is when he talks about there being a reason why Sabbath and Iron Maiden haven't done Glastonbury and that Metallica will find out come Saturday night on the Pyramid stage. But what do Metallica really have to lose here?

His whole opinion loses all credibility when he goes on about Glastonbury being 'full of hippies' and being all Radio 1, despite confessing that he has never been before. I think he will be proven wrong when he tunes in and watches Metallica smash it

Shrewd move by the organisers, because it's got people talking. I mean, how many people are talking about Kasabian headlining in comparison?

They're an excellent booking. One of the biggest bands in the world, fantastic live and a bit different to your typical Glastonbury headliner. It'll be a memorable set.

The two most likely starts will be Creeping Death into For Whom The Bell Tolls, or Hit The Lights into Master of Puppets I reckon. Blackened is an awesome intro, the time I saw them open with it the crowd erupted.
