The Killers?

I know it seems to be 'cool' on here not to like The Killers, but what the heck, I'm a big fan.

They're supposed to be on a break this year after the release of Direct Hits, and Brandon is meant to be working on his second solo album, but they've unexpectedly been announced for Hangout Fest in the US in the middle of May. http://hangoutmusicfest.com/

They've not played Glasto since they headlined back in 2007, and have headlined every other UK festival (some multiple times) since. Perhaps they're back on the UK festival circuit this summer? They played V in 2012, and TITP and IOW last year, can't see them at R&L so perhaps Glasto, if they come over here at all that is.

A13 I am with you, I like the Killers and Brandon is total eye candy :-)

Personally I don't think they will play Glastonbury - oo can you imagine the uproar on here if Mr Eavis chose Aracde Fire, Kasabian and Killers to headline....... ha ha I'd like to see it even just for the backlash of 'it's gone downhill' 'rubbish headliners '.... followed by at the beginning of June 'best festival ever' ' its not about the music' ' whens ticket day ' threads :-)

But from my point of view at least I own Killers albums, don't own anything by the Eagles - although that probably means I have bad music taste lol

I'd be happy with the Killers headlining, their early album releases like Hot Fuss were the first albums I really got into when I was like 13/14. Like people have already said though, they haven't really released anything good enough recently to headline and they aren't old enough to be considered a 'classic' band or whatever.

The Killers may have gone off the boil a bit, but would put on a great show, have a good back catalog and would be 1000% more relevant than The Eagles.

Were they just ruled out based on having a break? That announcement is interesting.

Didn't they have sound issues when they last headlined? Maybe they want to come back and resolve that.

Also, nothing sells a greatest hits album like a Saturday night headline set at Glastonbury...

(Brandon is beautiful)

unless they announced a few more shows it's very unlikely (not that it wasn't unlikely already - Arcade Fire, The Killers and Kasabian? fucking hell). the US show is right on their doorstep so no big deal whereas it'd take some commitment to a proper tour to come over to the UK to do Glastonbury

Arcade Fire/Killers/Kasabian does read a bit dull. But does it read better than Arcade Fire/The Eages/Kasabian?

At least The Eagles would provide a bit of age/era variety.

There doesn't look like there's going to be a massive headline grabbing headliner along the lines of U2 or The Stones. But that's ok... they can't book something like that every year.

Loads of bands stunk the gaff out in 2007 and probably deserve the chance to put it right.

The sound wasn't right that year on the Pyramid stage.

I think the constant rainpour put everyone on a downer also.

The Arctic Monkeys made up for it last year, why not The Killers this year?

The Killers booking agent talking about the booking of these smaller venues to warm up for the summer big festivals.

Sommer said the event center's layout of a flat, open floor and its "not too small, not too big" capacity also is attractive. And in a year in which the band did not release an album of new material, the date can help it gear up to play the big summer festivals, Sommer said.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
