for me though when I look at the headliners I get these feelings.

Arcade Fire - brilliant band, different but not radio 1 friendly, which is why they haven't grown as much as they potentially could here, also would receive the complete ignorant "Who?" comments from the public, and "Can't be a headliner if i've never heard of them".

The Eagles - "Who? That old band, how are they relevant" , comments which in some shape or form I agree with.

Kasabian - The Lad Rock band that wants to be the size of arctic monkeys but never will.

Are people really suggesting The Eagles aren't worthy (pardon the pun) of headlining Glastonbury?

I know the demographic has changed the past 5 years or so and the crowd is getting younger but there's still a massive % of the crowd over 35 and i'd be surprised if any of them wouldn't appreciate 2 hours of hits from one the biggest bands of the 70s.

To not have even dipped your toe in the water of The Eagles music if you're over 35 would be slightly ignorant of their success.

If you don't like them fair enough but nobody can deny their success warrants them as credible headliners in any festival in any country in the world, especially as a strong line up in terms of personnel.

Glastonbury should always have a "Legend" headlining at least one of the nights on the Pyramid and if it's not Prince,FM,Led Zep,Elton John,Billy Joel,Paul McCartney,Rod Stewart,Roger Waters or whoever else falls in to that age bracket then The Eagles would fit just fine with me.

Some people don't like 'em. Few people could doubt them as credible headliners by all the normal measures. But...

They're just a bit dull, aren't they? There's not much about them that anyone is getting excited about, because they occupy that safe bland middle american thing which might not be too irritating as background music but which you probably wouldn't choose to put on and listen to.

The festival is owned by someone 78 years of age who likes his music.

It's not too much to suggest he indulges himself by watching some of his favourite bands before he wanders up to Shangri La for his Saturday night meet and greet with all us weirdos.

Whilst im not really an Eagles fan, I'm shocked by the number of people on this forum are saying they only know hotel california! If a pyramid headliner is all about the sing-along songs (which part of me agrees with), then surely the Eagles will be ideal? espically if they play a couple of don henley and joe walsh solo songs!

good banter though anyway boys and girls ;)
