Out of interest Neil/Scottie why are the Eagles still only a rumour? It seem everyone on here is treating it as almost definite, after Neil's comments last week.

we currently don't have much more than a suggestion that it's Eagles.

However, that still puts them ahead of Prince in the info stakes nfor Glastonbury, because the only sensible Prince info we have is around him not playing rather than playing.

Eagles have been moved into Saturday today, because if they're playing that's where they're playing (same goes for Prince), and they've both got put in a day while the other "could possibly headline" acts still rumoured haven't to indicate those two acts as the most likely (based on the stuff of more substance that has come our way).

There was talk of Bowie doing a tour this year, but that was a while ago (just before Christmas maybe?), not forgetting it's probably bullshit and there's been no evidence of any goings on so far. Then again, it is Bowie, so I wouldn't be surprised if something was miraculously announced tomorrow.

He's still classed as a rumour on the rumour list, so I presume he can't be 100% ruled out yet.

We just need an excuse to take him out really.

He's there because so many places chose to include him as one of the rumours they were giving.

I've had what I believe to be some excellent Bowie info now and then, and all of that has said nothing is happening. I really don't think anything of that has changed.

(I guess a cameo with AF wouldn't be within what I've heard, so that's perhaps a possibility. Tho still unlikely I'd say).

And what about some of the other potential headliners that remain as a rumour? Adele? Stone Roses? Are they any stronger than Bowie to challenge Eagles as potential headliner?

the only ones with anything we've heard behind them are Eagles and Prince.

Based mostly on hunches (and this was something I was dismissing out of hand a few months ago) it looks to me like Eagles is your band.

I think this will be a key year, which separate the glasto goers from, "Who wants to be here because they love glasto" and "who only cares about the lineup".

It's not going to popular, but it will definitely help in the long run.

You make a good point, i don't know why i am fussing so much about the Eagles, i'm still gonna have an awesome time. I guess it's just frustrating losing out on the opportunity to see somebody else huge like Price etc

I think you are right about it being good in the long run as well. U2 and The Rolling Stones are pretty much as big as you can get (barring a surprise David Bowie or Led Zep/Pink Floyd) and It's always gonna be hard to keep churning out these blockbuster names each year. Maybe if our expectations are lowered we'll be in for a nice surprise in 2015

It's still rather disappointing for Glastonbury newbies like me, looking forward to seeing a legend for the first time at such an incredible festival (as I understand it!). Still, I'm aware that Glastonbury is about so much more than the headliners, so I'll be going with excitement regardless.

the thing is, The Eagles are still very much legends. just not the legends you wanted. the list of legends available to Glastonbury is quickly drying up as each year passes. next year, who's left? Prince, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Bowie again possibly. but apart from that they've all done it over the past 15 years or so. within the next few years they'll either have to start repeating them or phase out the 'massive legend headliner' thing all together
