Eagles, a fully functional rock cliché, do one thing* absolutely superbly I'll give them that. In terms of selling bad records to vast number of idiots, theyre your "go to" guys.

It is terrible news for the festival that theyre playing.

*Actually two things, I like the solo in Hotel California.

It's a shame ME doesn't have a much better "favourite" band.... is that even true anyway?

Either way, in my opinion it would be a terrible booking for the festival in 2014 and also do a lot of damage to Glasto's reputation in the future.

Why all this outpouring of hatred?

There are bands I like, bands I don't like, some I'm ambivalent about and many I've not heard of.

Can't we concentrate on those we'd like to see rather than worrying about those that we won't bother to see.

If, and surely it's still a big if, The Eagles play that just means one less clash for a lot of people on here.

I'm beginning to realise I need to avoid the Pyramid Stage all weekend, to avoid protests, disgruntled festive-goers, fights about musical tastes, negative thoughts, and allegedly crap bands.

Catch me at Avalon, Acoustic, Healing Fields or West Holts for a chilled out, peaceful easy feeling!! ha ha

The most interesting thing about this band is that people hate them.

That to me is fascinating.

Old-timey rock gits like Nal and Tony Blair will always take issue with pop bands. Theyre rockists. That theres not an avalanche of guff about the Eagles playing all but confirms that.

Not unlike Mardy, theres been no headliner in the recent past that has made me want to sever my long standing relationship with the fest than this shower. They offend me. Glastonbury should know better.

Maybe it is just that their music has stood the test of time better.

You nailed some good facts, and then went haywire with the conclusion.

It's got little to do with standing the test of time else the popularity would be pretty constant.

It's to do with the hype they got from things like Glee.

that's Joe Walsh, who as I've pointed out, would be much better than The Eagles

They're a country band who sing well, write songs that are what they are, and they're pretty good musicians. They're have a tendency to be rather bland. But punters here wet themsleves at the prospect of horrendous novelty 'legends'.
