I think I could genuinely 'get into' any band if I wanted to tbh, If I listen to any album half a dozen times I'm sure there is always something about it to make me like it, a funny couple of lines, a nice hook or a surprising melodic change. The longer it takes me to get into an album the better and the higher I'll rate it in the long run.

That doesnt mean i dont dislike any bands mind, most dont give me a reason to listen to an album half a dozen times either by my pre-judging them on what id already heard or my conceptions on the artist

I get that they;re not necessarily to people's tastes. But for Bowie in particular, i find it baffling how people claim to not 'get' him. Even taking away the songs, i'd of thought his ability as a performer alone would be clear to all.

Daft Punk - fair play they've made a few decent tracks and Get Lucky was great (now hurrendously overplayed) but I really really don't get the hype with them on these boards and with my mates who also think they're amazing. It confuses me more than anything I guess...

I don't really get the Beatles. I mean, I get why they were so big, what they achieved and so on, but I can't get in to them.

I caused a massive argument on another glastonbury group when I said I don't like the Beatles. At the time I was asking for some Rolling Stones recommendations as I'm 21 and their music isn't something my parents like so I haven't really heard much of their stuff knowingly. It sparked up a "How can you NOT know the Rolling Stones" debate, which I stupidly decided to throw in that I don't get the Beatles either. My god, I've never seen such mayhem online!

Went to see the Alabama 3 (full band) tonight. Maybe it was just the mood I was I but I couldn't connect. They seemed rambling and disjointed. All my mates and daughters loved it. But I gave up and walked out after 45 minutes.

I've seen them before in a bigger setting and they were slick and polished and gave a great show.

So tonight, the eve of my birthday, should have been a night of good music and it wasn't.

Only the second music gig I've ever walked out of in 40 years. The other being Mick Taylor a few years back.
