The 2014 Glasto Get Fit Thread

Ruwise

I started my diet/fitness regime after ticket day in oct.. I promised myself I wouldn't be fat and unhealthy for glasto 2014.. I'm now almost 2 and a half stone lighter and do Zumba 3 times a week :) roll on June :)

Good stuff, I need to lose a couple of stones as well for this year. Need to be nimble for walking all round the site, feet were killing me last year!

Mine were killing too. Are there any foot exercises that can help this? :P

I got diagnosed with Sarcoidosis some time ago, it comes and goes but this time looks to be hanging around for good, possibly! Also had some kidney issues that are related, had an op with another to come, they put a stent in. Hopefully once they take it out and remove the other 2cm stone that's there i might be able to consider exercise which i can't at the moment , though moving over Christmas has given me more exersion than i had wished at that point. I should be on a no diary, low calcuium and vit D diet but over Christmas this went out of the window and only the steroids kept it on an even keel. Now i am back to eating healthily i think though it's hard to know what not to eat given my problems. I have never really struggled at Glasto before with the walking and all and hopefully come June i will be in fine fettle not to have any issues. Though i fear the drinking will have to be curtailed! Hears hoping!

I have rather stupidly signed up for the Bath Half marathon in March, I've stopped drinking for Jan and Feb and I'm running 3-4 times a week to train. I'll try and keep up a less extreme version after the race!

i'm still going the gym at least three times a week! ordered myself a bike as well which should be arriving any day now which will make getting to and from the gym a lot more laborious. should be looking like i'm carved out of stone by the time Glastonbury roles round (maybe)

Bad week on bike this week, not a total disaster (18 miles cycled), but lots getting in way, weather mostly. This is the month 4 point of my get fit / cycle 2000 miles by GLASTO charity challenge, and I'm almost half way to target (990 miles). I'm just hoping weather will be kinder from now on in. On plus side days are getting longer, and I'm continuing to lose weight steadily.

I had an op to remove two kidney stones last week, having a week off! I will try to start with getting fit by walking a lot more afterwards. I am not carrying excess weight, indeed i allways felt i was fit enough at around 84K and pretty active. Since becoming ill i went down to aroung 70K, now at about 75K. I am on steriods because i got Sarcoidosis which now means i eat a lot more, but i feel better. I hope to come off those in a month or so. Hopefully all will be ok by the time Glasto comes around, still some issues with the kidneys but i am laying off the booze for a bit ( not completely though :) ) before then!

January done - averaged 4 bootcamps, 3 yoga classes and a slacklining class each week

Ate clean all month, so no alcohol, no caffeine, no dairy, no sugar, no processed foods at all - all month. 10lb gone

Had a day off on Saturday and had a few drinks - and straight back on the wagon yesterday

Bring on February :-)

I'm seeing Glastonbury as a key part of my training schedule for a charity trek to Everest Base Camp this October (bar the alcohol abuse of course - giving it up straight afterwards). So currently in training for both! 3 yoga classes per week, 1 Tabata HIT class, Body Combat twice a week and a boring gym programme twice a week. By June, I'll be cracking walnuts between my thighs for sport :gym:

I was in on this thread last year.

I have managed to maintain through diet and gym from last year. To be honest I lost the bulk of my weight a couple of years ago and have managed to keep most of it off. Just had a fortnight off the gym as my hip was playing up (age you see) but started back last night with legs (ouch).

I haven't weighed myself in a while but would hazard a guess that I could maybe do with losing around 6 - 8lbs. I can do that in about 3 weeks so am in a pretty good place.

There are various programs out there but if you fancy the iron/gym approach I can recommend Kris Gethins 12 week daily trainer on bodybuilding.com. You need to be wanting to shift quite a bit of weight though and it is pretty tough but I have got through it three times now.

I went from XXL to M and a 42in waist to a 31in waist over a 3 year period. If I can do it anyone can. It's all about consistancy. No need to kill yourself, little and often and if you have a fail day let it slide and get straight back on it.

Good luck people.

    • The Great Fete Festival (Sunday Only) Ocean Colour Scene day on Tickets For Good.
    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
    • Most likely not, keeping an eye on Tixel and Twickets might be the best option.
