The 2014 Glasto Get Fit Thread

Likewise, just hit a stone this morning. Another stone off hopefully by the end of April and then some refining and I'll be good to go.

I put on a lot of weight last year and I think it affected my enjoyment of the festival quite a lot - something I've since realized is ridiculous but it'll be nice not to have that this year.

Morning get fitters

I've lost 1 stone 5lb since the beginning of the year and would like the same again before Glastonbury - which is do-able - just I think.

Still hitting Bootcamp 3-4 times a week, yoga 2-3 times and Pilates so hopefully G should not be too shattering

Not sure my drinking boots will be up to standard though - have only drank two evenings this year and the rest of the time been on water ! Still no caffeine, processed foods, dairy, wheat or gluten .

Feeling OK and hoping I continue this regime until the summer and beyond

Well done, the do yoga at my gym (DW Sports and Fitness) and I really want to give it a go but the classes are always full of women and being a burly bloke I don't want to embarrass myself. I currently do spin which is great and bodypump which is really working for me.

Go to yoga - be brave - my class is mainly ladies, but we do have a couple of guys. Its harder than it looks - but so great for you and especially in combination with other classes/disciplines

Funny I go to DW Health as well - lovely gym :-)

Yoga is non competitive so don't be embarrassed, give it a go and report back :-)

I hate spin classes - although to be fair I have not been to one for probably 4 years so maybe I should try again lol

  • 10 months later...

I'm in again

taken up roller derby which is a superb workout for 2 hours on a Sunday , but not good for bruises . Also a ballet barre workout on a Monday.... Legs are really aching tonight lol

Off scuba diving next week and skiing on March , so if I can keep that Yoga and they gym thrown in as well I should be match fit as much as I can be by glasto :-)

Stopped going to the gym around the end of October last year (foreign holiday and then work + laziness prior to Christmas).

Started the gym again last Monday (ouch) but have another foreign holiday coming up next Wednesday. Intend to continue as soon as I return. Looking to lose 10-15lbs this time around which shouldn't be too difficult.

I changed my diet for life a couple of years ago and actually prefer eating healthier foods. It's the booze that wrecks me every time. Haven't had a drink since New Years Eve though. I know it's only 13 days but that is pretty long for me to go without drinking.

Moving from smoking roll ups to vaping is on my list for this year.

I'm jealous, roller derby looks like so much fun.

i've actually managed to keep up with my gym routine since Glastonbury. especially hard during these cold winter months when i'd rather just stay in bed than walk to the gym and have to face the elements - looking forward to spring / summer when i actually enjoy going outside

haven't even got a ticket for this year but dag nabit will i be in fantastic shape for if i do! if i don't get a ticket in the resale maybe i'll just gorge myself on junk

Count me in too. I could do with losing about 3 stone but won't get anything like that off. I would be pleased to get one off and get fitter.

I haven't got a definite plan of action yet, so going to keep looking on this thread and take some inspiration from all you lot !

Well done Amazing Oblong it is the wine that is the root of my weight problems, just cutting back/out the mid week booze would be a good start for me.

Raw food only till 6 pm and then eat normally but in moderation with no booze. Do-able?

Given I'm veggie like.

Do-able, but enjoyable? Better to just eat a well balanced diet (whatever that is) and increase activity in the form of some exercise, but do something you enjoy.

Aim for 1-11/2 lbs a week weight loss, though some weeks you may just stay the same.

Good luck in whatever you try :)

Spot on and will work for everyone.

Another simple way is eat 5% less and exercise/be active 5% more (or if you are not active then be so for 10 minutes a day).

Thanx for advice I suppose common sense would have told me the same. My slight problem is a current health problem that makes exercise difficult. At the moment this is limiting my ability to support weight loss through diet change with exercise. Hopefully this is relatively short term - and if it isn't the issue of being fit for Glastonbury goes away anyway as I won't be able to do the walking.

The raw food bit mainly means I eat loads of fruit and salads all of which I love in any case.

I guess it's whatever works for you TDW, maybe a spot of swimming could help things along a tad; none/low impact.

I hope you get yourself sorted, not only for Glastonbury, but long term. Small steps, that's the answer I reckon.

All the best wiggy, keep positive and have a great festival :)

I think i'll need to shift a few stone before june....24st at the moment and not active at all

Then do it. Softly does it mind you; adjust your diet and slowly build up your physical activity.

I know it's easier said than done but, with a positive attitude, and the support of people around you, you can achieve your goals. Don't forget though, nothing is instant, it all takes time and effort.

All the best, and go for it. :)

    • My understanding is that the queues returning back to the UK will be much worse (up to two hours) but the queue entering Lisbon isn’t so bad. That’s just from reading a few forum posts about it though so take it with a pinch of salt!

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
