Hyperbole. It is a pretty magical place to be though, even when the stages aren't running.

I thought there was supposed to be a main announcement today, so it seems to be just the Red Bull stage, I thought there was supposed to be a big electronic headliner.

I think the only "big" act we've got still to come is Friday's Big Top headliner.

It looks like the next stage to be announced is the reggae/dancehall/jungle stage, some time next week. I sort of quite like the way that entire stages are getting their individual line-up announcements, but it does mean the main stage and Big Top line-ups are still looking a little sparse at the moment, and there's nothing at all yet about what's replacing the Replay stage.

gotta say, my interest in Bestival is slowly waning. obviously gonna wait for the full lineup to be out before i make a proper decision but so far, now that the initial hype of 'omg OUTKAST' has gone, it's not really doing it for me (and the acts that are i'll more than likely be seeing elsewhere)

gotta say, my interest in Bestival is slowly waning. obviously gonna wait for the full lineup to be out before i make a proper decision but so far, now that the initial hype of 'omg OUTKAST' has gone, it's not really doing it for me (and the acts that are i'll more than likely be seeing elsewhere)

I already have tickets & there's enough across the weekend to keep me occupied but the line up certainly doesn't excite me as much as previous editions have.

I'm not sure I like the new route of specific stages catering simply to one or two genres. The best thing about Bestival was/is the eclectic range of bands on offer across all of the stages, limiting that to certain stages for certain genres kind of kills it for me.The Main Stage & the Big Top look rather sparse at the moment, whether that's at the expense of all the new stages or simply because they have a lot more to announce I don't know. I will however reserve my judgement on it, until after this years festival.

That's a licensing thing to do with how many people in total can be on site. They're still limiting punter numbers to 55,000.

Lauryn Hill has announced a London show on September 20th. tiny bit of a gap between Bestival and then but surely / hopefully makes her seem likely?

She's doing the Outlook opening (which I think was mid-week last year, although we just missed it) around Bestival so is certainly not a million miles away. Would be brilliant.

Lauryn Hill is in Croatia on the 3rd & Germany on the 7th with no dates announced in between. But the Brixton show is being advertised as a "one off UK performance" so I'm doubtful, unfortunately.

Latitude exclusive innit.

I'm surprised Stylo G and Bunji Garlin weren't announced for the Reggae Roots stage, so they might be still to come. I'm still hoping that Portishead are the last Big Top headliner, but other than that it'll be all smaller acts from hereon in.

The Friday Big Top headliner & Saturday Main Stage Subheadliner (unless it's Wild Beasts?) are still to be announced I think? So that's two biggish slots left. Other than that, as you say it'll mostly be smaller acts to fill the main stage & Big Top.

I do wonder what's going on with that Friday Big Top headline slot. Rob said weeks ago that he was hoping to confirm it "tomorrow". And then you've got Festival No.6 (same weekend as Besti) still lacking their final headliner, who could well be on a par with that missing Bestival act. I wonder if there's some sort of tussle going on between the two.

I think Janelle Monae could be a pretty high profile slot too...

Yeah Janelle Monae is a realistic option. Seeing as she performed with Outkast at Coachella you would expect her at Bestival too.

Although it would be a bit like Diplo being announced as an additional stage headliner. Doesnt really feel like it should count seeing as he is already there as Major Lazer
