Janelle Monae would be a great addition, and hopefully the Friday Big Top headliner will be worth the wait. somewhat resting my opinion of the lineup on it (also hope we still have the Saturday sub left to come although it could definitely be Wild Beasts)

The undercard is great for me, I keep forgetting how many great bands have already been announced: Wild Beasts, Bonobo, Caribou (!), Darkside, 2 Bears -- throw in Beck, Outkast and possibly Janelle and Portishead and I'm well on my way!

Genuinely think this years bestival is one of the best they've ever had.

Really? I've been to every one since 1994 and I think this year's line up is really weak. Maybe I'm just getting old.

It could just be down to my taste really

As shit as they looked at coachella, Outkast is a good booking and someone I'd love to see

Foals are a band I really really like

Chic... meh, I never saw the hype to be honest.

Beck - great booking

Disclosure - I'm a big fan of

Busta Rhymes - Just a really good booking, curveball act

Then you've got names amogst like Major Lazer, Paloma Faith, Basement Jaxx, London Grammar, Sam Smith, Wild Beasts, Clean Bandit, Carribou, Chase and Status (DJ), Diplo which just strengthen it.

They've done very well so far.

Today's announcement is apparently coming at some time before 2:30pm, and will be announced first by the NME. Are they sponsoring a stage perhaps? Maybe they're running the Sunday Big Top lineup.

UPDATE:

"today we are announcing Your Favourite New Bands! a stack of the most exciting new acts around…keep an eye on @NME for all the details!"

Hmm. Well I'd recommend checking out Wytches, Fat Whites, Uncle Acid, Wild Smiles. Happyness and Ezra Furman are kind of good too. Melt Yourself Down are good fun to watch and I kinda dig John Wizards too.

Seems like they've picked a pretty good bunch there.

Almost pains me to say but at the moment I wish I'd chosen Electric Picnic over Bestival this year, the line up is looking much stronger.

the Electric Picnic lineup is brilliant isn't it? pretty much the best bits of the Bestival lineup with added greatness on top

Okay, so Pet Shop Boys are Festival No.6's final headliner. Portishead still don't have any UK dates announced but are doing these festivals:

ATP, Iceland, 10-12 July

Melt, Germany, 18-20 July

La Route du Rock, France, 13-16 August

Pukkelpop, Belgium, 14-16 August

Rock en Seine, France, 22-24 August

Electric Picnic, Ireland, 29-31 August

And Bestival still doesn't have a Friday night Big Top headliner announced. I do think we've probably had all the big names we're going to see, but I'm still holding out a little iota of hope....

    • Where did you see this?
    • No idea how it'll work in a festival setting but really enjoying Prewn at the moment.
    • Lineup announced, with the dates having been pushed back to 12th and 13th September. Tickets on sale tomorrow 8:30am.   12th September Chaka Khan Jack Savoretti Lulu Emeli Sande Texas ABC The Script   13th September Simple Minds Deacon Blue Level 42 Appleton Blue James Blunt Cast   I think it’s a pretty weak lineup compared to previous years to be honest - and think it’s quite lazy they’ve gone down the Scottish route so much (not sure Simple Minds would be classed as a headliner elsewhere in the UK).

    • I've been saying that it's been due for years. I don't recall anything but good luck, mainly, since 2016.   If we could get the bad year out of the way during the fallow year, and return to glorious sunshine next year, that would be most welcome.
