can't see it being Portishead myself - reckon they'd easily headline Bestival - but fingers crossed eh

do Big Top headliners all finish after the main stage headliners? i remember that happening with The Cure / Primal Scream but can't remember if it happened for the rest?

The Big Top headliners tend not to start until after the Main Stage headliners have finished, but sometimes there's an unfortunate overlap. Last year for example:

FRI - Fatboy Slim 22:15-23:45; Disclosure 23:10-00:25

SAT - Snoop Dogg 22:20-23:30; The Knife 23:30-01:00

SUN - Elton John 20:30-22:30; James Blake 23:30-00:30

I can't see it being Portishead for the same reason, but fingers crossed.

Were Disclosure the Friday Big Top headliner last year? Because they definitely clashed with FBS.

Edit: beaten to it by the wealth of knowledge that is Smogo :P

bit of a bummer as i was hoping to see all of Basement Jaxx but looks like they'll be clashing with Foals / Outkast

Basement Jaxx are on the Saturday so I suspect a little over lap with Foals may happen, but we should get to see a decent chunk of each set. (Hopefully)

Do we know they're on the Saturday, or did we just assume they would be (subbing Foals)? I was looking around for evidence but couldn't find anything.

i might even be swayed to miss the end of Foals if they end up clashing, but i guess we shall wait and see!

hoping for somebody great on the Friday night (and for them to not clash with Outkast)

still hoping for a few 'big' / attention grabbing names as for me, personally, the lineup still isn't quite doing it

The fact that Portishead are playing four festival dates in France, Belgium and Ireland in the weekends before Bestival, and don't have any UK dates announced, almost makes them look like a certainty.

But I'm sure Metronomy will be playing at some point, so it could be them. Although they'd be more suited to subbing Foals on the main stage, surely?

(I don't like Metronomy.)

Metronomy's a good shout for Foals sub actually. wouldn't be surprised if it was them at all (and would be disappointed if they were the Big Top headliner as i'm not a fan either)

hope you're right about Portishead. would make the festival for me (especially going from Outkast > Portishead in one night)

Paolo Nutini, Lily Allen, Pet Shop Boys, Portishead, Metronomy, St Vincent, Lauryn Hill, the Horrors, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, Neneh Cherry & Jimi Goodwin are all doing the rounds in the UK/Europe around Bestival time, so I would expect at least a couple from that list to be added.

I could see either Paolo, Lily or Metronomy subbing Foals.

I'm pretty sure Portishead are one of those bands that can play loads of dates around Europe but not miss out the UK- a bit like BRMC last summer. Someone said last year when they were rumoured for Glasto that they don't like playing the UK.

So I wouldn't say their dates make them likely.

Lineup looking pretty strong now! V happy with the Big Top announcement today.

Can someone clarify for me; as Beck is on the Big Top lineup, is it only the Big Top on Thursday, with no main stage? Might be a silly question idk.

Stages open on the Thursday include the Big Top, Swamp Shack, Club Dada, Polka Club, Temple Island, Comedy Tent and some others, but not the Main Stage, Port, Ballroom or Bollywood.

For what it's worth, I really think Portishead will play Festival No. 6.

Also, I don't reckon Metronomy are big enough to sub Bestival.

    • Having watched Linkin Park's Rock am Ring set I'd imagine they've used a different stage specifically for their light show, its insane

    • Good luck! Have you also registered your interest on Twickets? https://partners.twickets.live/endoftheroad/ 🙂
    • Likelihood is it'll be on Sunrise and Alcove but theres potential for some more in the tent as there have been 8 acts on some days in recent years. Obelisk is likely full now unless they have a few shorter sets thrown in   Im surprised they haven't had some secret sets thrown into the mix this time round unless they do and we find some gaps in the schedule is released
