I just don't imagine any non dance acts would headline ahead of them just now, their new album seems to have had great reviews and they are popular within the festival

I think what you're trying to say is that the only way they wouldn't 'outright' headline (ie close the stage) is if they were part of a co-headline/closing dance act set up, like TDCC a few years back or BBC last year.

Which is entirely possible, but what you're basically saying is that they're big enough to headline, too big to sub but OK for the position in the middle, and getting all that from the fact that they're playing Brixton.

And are they really as big as TDCC/BBC were? Didn't they play Ally Pally around the same time they did those slots?

Well they were 6th down on main last year and a move up from an equivalent slot on the NME would be in the top two, and I personally think they would be given a shot at headlining.

If 'with a closing set' is going to be the new 'coheadlining' bollocks where people think two acts that can't headline their stage club together - despite Bombay Bicycle Club being the biggest NME headliner last year and the only time 'with a closing set' has ever been listed as so - then count me out.

BBC had done Ally Pally in 2012 and then did Earls Court in December after a no 1 album, hence why I think headlining NME was too low down for them, but given there Glasto/T slots I'm probably wrong.

I really hope the 'closing set' thing was just a one off as last years 'co headlining' appears to have been. Having a closing set doesn't make a NME headline booking any weaker, but regardless of it to me Peace are still only really capable of subbing. It seems like the natural progression from 6th on main I'd say (Eg. Enter Shikari).

It's a fairly extensive tour but the venues are pretty damn small; doesn't the Junction in Cambridge have a capacity of 650?

It looks very similar to the tour they did on the back of their first album

Don't know enough about all the venues, but their Manchester/London venues are twicce the size of those listed for their previous biggest tour, which shows a fair improvement.

If 30STM are announced, I hope they actually fill their slot with 100% music.

I saw them a RW a couple of years back and we had trampolinists and gymnasts running around the stage and a bunch of blokes dressed as gimps playing drums.

I turned up at the end of that 30STM set to get into the front section for Depeche Mode afterwards, and had to stand through Jared thanking all the "believers" out there and a load more pretentious shite and killed myself.

The song they played afterwards was even worse. Would have sooner chopped all my fingers off with a blunt knife. What a bellend.

    • Its just going to be another dementia tax isn't it? The issue is this is going to be seen as a continuation of the labour government that have already raised taxes 1000% above manifesto promises.
    • One thing that Burnham has been talking about is scrapping inheritance tax and replace it with a social care levy ... which would be less progressive, but might be a good idea if was a solution for the social care crisis. Would need to sell it well to a public who would prefer not to pay more tax.
    • Maybe you should put your name forward to be Burnham's chancellor.
    • But I think the point of that Dan Needle tax thing...we need to put up income tax, for all incomes (and thresholds should be unfrozen).
    • There are no easy answers...more than anything we need growth...and probably main ways of getting that is borrowing more to invest in stuff that makes us super sexy, and/or cut taxes on business and wealth generation which would mean less money to spend on public services and welfare and would obviously be super unpopular and get you chucked out of govt. On top of all that got an aging population, a growing welfare bill, a call for higher spending on defence, housing inequality, higher borrowing costs, and probably a load more sh*t on the way due to the Iran war (although so far it hasn't been that bad?)
