Muppetmark
its a long shot but early january? if they did the new years gig at the o2 at the start of a propper tour that would be phenomenal.
dentalplan
Well the Reflektor tour is over. That we know. So there won't be a proper tour but perhaps a few dates worldwide outside of a tour might be on the horizon but I'd count any of them being in the UK very unlikely. CHRLY
Funeral was released 10 years ago today. I'm spinning it now and it's still as perfect as the first time I heard it.

kingcrawler
They've finally uploaded Festi, a short film they made in 2011. Anyone else see this when it was shown in the cinema tent at Glastonbury this year? I thought it was good, if a bit strange.
bocumaroy
I like it more than Scenes From The Suburbs. Didn’t realise it was on at Glastonbury. Did anyone spot James Murphy? I missed that bit.
willutalk
Can someone recommend some bands similar to Arcade Fire, especially the Reflektor sort of vibe. As I really adore the album ATM.

Amy Lawn
I don't know that LCD Soundsystem are all that similar to Arcade Fire, although they are the best band that's ever existed and willutalk should be pumping them into his metally ears, stat. bocumaroy
It’s difficult to give recommendations with regards to Reflektor specifically, because they riff off of so many different influences on that album. An obvious one, but overall New Order are probably the band that I think they most closely resemble, Afterlife in particular being a compete (but brilliant) rip off. The first couple of albums have got a clear Echo & The Bunnymen influence. In terms of modern bands, their Montreal friends Wolf Parade have a similar kind of vibe, I guess. Apologies To The Queen Mary is a great album. They’re pretty blatant with their influences sometimes, but when it all comes together there’s no one that sounds like them, which is one of the reasons I love them so much. Lots of post-Funeral bands have tried though. Edited November 1, 2014 by bocumaroy

I think you can hear similarities on a few of the Reflektor tracks. But also, everyone should just listen to LCD Soundsystem anyway.
Amy Lawn
Marking this post as the......... Well I reckon you can guess the rest. You'd feel differently if they were from Leeds

theDandy
Can someone recommend some bands similar to Arcade Fire, especially the Reflektor sort of vibe. As I really adore the album ATM. LCD Soundsystem, Talking Heads, David Bowie, Yeasayer, Prince, New Order, Depeche Mode, Metronomy? Like a big mixture of all of them maybe. bocumaroy
First clips of Will's solo stuff has emerged. Thoughts? https://www.facebook.com/ArcadeFireTube/posts/704256129681379 Although I was excited for anything remotely Arcade Fire related, I didn't expect to like this as much as I do. AdamWillingham
Only listened to one of Wills live songs, 'Take My Side', I liked what I was hearing though. Interested to see what happens next. On a totally related note, I finally got round to buying Funeral on vinyl, listening to it now, I forgot how fabulous this album is. bocumaroy
On second listen, I'm not quite as fond of these as I first thought. 'Finish' is the only song that doesn't work at all for me, but I'm not really fond of the (sort of bluesy?) rock n roll vibe to the more uptempo songs. 'What I Want' is probably the best of them, as it's the one that seems to explode with the most energy, and I think the others would be a lot better if they had the energy of an actual live band, drums and bass and all that, but they're a bit boring in the videos. Shame that the recording of 'Sun Comes Up' cuts out early, that's my favourite so far. Quite poppy. I'm impressed with his vocal delivery, some of the lyrics, and the backing singers, who are actually the best thing about most of the videos. I can imagine if Will does tour properly then he would throw together a proper band. I'm yet to listen to the other songs apart from 'Take My Side' and I enjoyed that one. I am very interested to how it'll all transpire on record. I've seen multiple articles that get confused between Will and Win. kingcrawler
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUFItv8Qv1o A year today since I saw them at my favourite venue. Probably the best gig I've been to.
TomViolence
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUFItv8Qv1o A year today since I saw them at my favourite venue. Probably the best gig I've been to. I never made it to any of their shows as 'The Reflektors' . The party atmosphere was special at Earls Court but everyone speaks so highly of the 2013 shows! John_P
The Blackpool gig was fantastic, just a joyous atmosphere. Was great queuing up to get in and seeing 99% of the audience had made an effort with regards to dressing up for the show.
bocumaroy
Yeah, Blackpool is still my favourite, despite it having the shortest and worst setlist of any Arcade Fire gig I've been to. Was just special.
