Last time I did one it was something along the lines of:

1) Tunnels

2) Suburban War

3) ATB

4) Power Out

5) In The Backseat

I will see though, I'm exited to listen to them again, I've considered them my absolute favourite band for years.

Top three all album openers! (They do know how to start an album though, don't they?)

Tunnels may be my absolute favourite start to an album ever, it's either that or Los Campesinos!'s In Medias Res from Romance Is Boring, I think Tunnels may just inch it, though. I got that weightless feeling in my stomach when they played it at Glastonbury, pretty much all the way through the song, it was a great moment.

Stunning live and on record. I think I know

exactly what you mean, there's just something

about the 'oooooos' that have an effect on me.

I always see you and others on here singing LC's praises and I've never even tried them. Just shoved that very song on and I'm liking what I hear!

It's the way it builds! And the oooos, and those bloody lyrics, everything about it just feels incredibly dramatic, and emotional, and timeless, and important. It sets out the stall for what's coming, that imagery of the neighborhood being buried in snow just sets the scene so vividly, just puts you right there and gives you some context for where they're coming from. The record is so personal to them, but it begins by forcing your mind to paint this mental picture of where this is starting, goes on to talk about things we all know like love, death, childhood, family members, friends, it's not hard to see why that album means so much to people when it so effectively puts you in the picture from the get-go.

Give Los Camp! some of your time, it'll be a great investment. They've changed a lot since the beginning, but they've always kept this big layered indie pop sound, I don't think there's much of a stretch to go from Arcade Fire to them. Another similarity with AF is that they're not a band for being a casual fan of, they're a band you obsess over, I don't know anybody who merely likes them, I only know devotees or people who've decided it's not their thing.

Quite oddly, all my mates (other than me) are not massive Arcade Fire fans. They knew only a couple of the tunes, they came to watch them with me at the Pyramid - all them loved it, but all of them don't really get them when its on record.

Philistines.

All of them want to see them again though... Whether they'll pay - I'm not too sure.

I get you Lawn, was exactly the same for AF in my circles. There's a noticeable difference since that Glasto slot, though. Suddenly people are 'quite in to The Suburbs' who would've never given them any time before. I'm not sure if this is more widespread or it's just people I know but it makes me happy.

What they really know how to do is penultimatise (IT COULD BE A WORD) an album/EP:

Headlights Look Like Diamonds

Rebellion (Lies)

No Cars Go

Sprawl II

Afterlife

Second to last track is always something really special.

I'm seeing sort of the opposite, round about the time they headlined Leeds festival, a lot of people I know got into them and went mental for The Suburbs, but Reflektor seemed to alienate a lot of people I know after the title track, it's not as accessible. I personally took a long time to get into it, I liked loads of the tracks when I first heard it, but thought it was a mish-mash of ideas and thought there was too much going on and not enough coherence, it's only very very recently that I've come to love it as an album rather than individual tracks, I think I was a bit dense for quite a while and wasn't really paying attention to how all the themes were coming together. I do love it a lot now though.

No Cars go followed by My Body is a cage.

When did an album last end as strongly as that?

Reflektor disc 2! The whole thing is phenomenal, but that last two tracks just nail it for me.

I went off Reflektor big time, loved it when it first came out but it's now comfortably my least favourite AF album. It's got some fantastic tracks (Reflektor, It's never over & Porno are the standouts), it just drags for me, the massive outros, if it was a bit shorter and didn't involve Flashbulb Eyes and You Already Know then I think it'd be a lot better.
