Fun guessing time...

If one of the headliners will fall through, it will be Depeche Mode. I can see Giddings wanting to offer them more money on exclusive, they may even be received greater at IOW.

I think Fleetwood Mac are completely booked, already.

Elbow. Same as above.

You see, I think DM tickets sales are always disappointing in the UK, I think they see their profile in the UK as being low, far far lower than it is in other countries. I reckon they'll see Glastonbury as a way of them cementing their place in UK culture in a way that, until now, hasn't really been widely recognised.

Me too mate. It's far better to front on fuck all then if you're wrong you've the perfect excuse.

I've tried explaining that to the missus, but she never accepts it as my excuse. :)

R+L and V wouldn't go near Depeche Mode and them's be the only ones who are overly arsed about headliner exclusivity - they could do T or IOW and Glastonbury and still pop up at a London show/festival (see Mumfords this year). I don't consider Bestival especially likely as it's awkward in relation to European festivals and Glastonbury could beat them for a fee.

As other people have pointed out; Depeche Mode and Elbow, for different reasons, will be pretty grateful at being given a Glastonbury headline slot whereas Fleetwood Mac have nothing left to prove and they sell out arenas in minutes with prices ranging from £60-£150. They could easily hold out for more or go their own way and do some more of their own shows for millions.

Other way round for me, I reckon DM will do it, but FM wil fall by the wayside.

Yep, that's my take on things too .... but some of us know a little more than what I've chosen to put out there. :D

Nicely summarised.

I think Depeche Mode would also do glastonbury as a way of making themselves more attractive to other festival promoters in the UK for future bookings. After wireless, ( which didn't sell out) they need a way to break back into contention IMO.

It would be a decent bookign for glastonbury as well, though a potentially risky one. They are certainly a 'fesh' legends band, in the sense that they have a lot of songs people will recognise when they hear them, and haven't been touting round the UK festival/live scene that much in recent years.
