Well you say there first choice bands. Who's to say Arctic monkeys and The stones aren't first choices?? They could be and they could end up being 2 of the headliners.

Now there third maybe being left open due to Money implications with the stones?! If they have a pot of 500k and the stones want 400k of it then it could lower offers to the third etc... (All figures made up of course).

Now Neil says people have turned down, but maybe in some situations it's a can u do it if Stones don't play? Maybe it's a can you do it, but it's not guaranteed yet, we have to wait.

Just a theory anyway, probably way off

it could be that, I don't know either way. But I don't think that's too likely, as to me that seems somewhat insulting towards any act who was asked that. I think it's far more likely that any approaches will be on a firm 'we'd like you to play' basis.

I think sisco probably has it right, or close enough. They don't want to book a third until they have the Stones confirmed or uncomfirmed, because how can you book a band if you have no idea how much money you have to spend?

They could have two "if Stones don't play" bands lined up and one "if Stones do play" band lined up, but it's difficult to make negotiations with a band if you're saying straight up to them you could not play.

If someone came up to me saying do you want to headline, but you might not be able to even if you accept, and I don't know how much money I have, I'd say come back when you know what you're offering.

    • I take my lad to the local non-league club - Royston Town - not he's 13, he goes there with his mates and he plays in their youth team.  Not many people there - lucky if they hit 800, but lovely supporting the town team.  I've took him to some league clubs too - Cambridge and Stevenage are great to visit and not crazy prices - his first one was Cambridge v Sunderland (I'm a mackem) when they were in league 1, so a great experience for him.  The England matches aren't too bad value either at Wembley - it's just the parking that stings you. Problem is, he's a City fan, so at some point have to bite the bullet and get him up to the Ethiad. Have done the tour, but he'd love a proper game....my wallet, less so!
    • Said it before, but if Annie Lennox is available next year, then it would be an absolute crime to instead book anyone else. She's rare and legendary enough that you drop all other plans.
    • I was having a tired day, my apologies 😂
    • I was there with Oxfam too! I got earlies so it was probably me who registered you on arrival 😀
    • Slightly unexpected, but Shambala is discounted on TfG.   Works out at about £215 after discount which is about a third off.
