I think that should be judged on a case by case basis. Lets not forget that the general publics knowledge of the Saville Scandal was not down to our justice system but a tv program.

Its well known that throughout history the political class have protected their own by controlling the justice system. I think if a journalist feels they have strong evidence which is ignored by the justice route, there are times when the media does have a moral duty to take the lead.

As I said earlier its a case by case basis, most would say it was right Jimmy Saville was exposed despite the justice system not being the route which exposed him. I agree with the principle that the media should not expose as the accused could be innocent, however that only works if you believe rich and poor, powerfull and powerless, conncected and unconnected are all treated as equals by our justice system. i think most would accept that those at the top get a very different kind of justice than those at the bottom of the chain. If a guilty person is protected from justice via connections (not saying for certain they have in this case, but history means its far from impossible) who will expose the guilty person if the media dont?

Having read this:

and this

I suspect the truth will never see the light of day.

I found that after reading about Leah McGrath Goodman who Theresa May barred from the UK for looking into a high level paedophile ring:

  • 3 weeks later...

I was sad to see Stuart Hall get arrested yesterday, I loved Its a Knockout. This whole saga really makes you change opinions of people you thought you liked.

As for Max Clifford, these alleged crimes are truly awful, but I nearly fell off my seat laughing at the news - hope that's acceptable! An utter c**t of a man, hope the smug grin was wiped off his face when he got a knock on his door this morning!

I've been racking my brains since I heard of that one - cos i'm pretty sure that something along these lines has come up about him before (it's perhaps the same case, i'm not sure)

There's defo some reason for why he went from a major BBC presenter to an almost no-one on the radio in the years gone by.

    • I am very possibly wrong about this but I do think that the pitch you get allocated appears to be related to your time of arrival, (i.e. you get the next one available) rather than the price you paid for a small, medium or large pitch.  They all appear to be the same size to me.

    • I take my lad to the local non-league club - Royston Town - not he's 13, he goes there with his mates and he plays in their youth team.  Not many people there - lucky if they hit 800, but lovely supporting the town team.  I've took him to some league clubs too - Cambridge and Stevenage are great to visit and not crazy prices - his first one was Cambridge v Sunderland (I'm a mackem) when they were in league 1, so a great experience for him.  The England matches aren't too bad value either at Wembley - it's just the parking that stings you. Problem is, he's a City fan, so at some point have to bite the bullet and get him up to the Ethiad. Have done the tour, but he'd love a proper game....my wallet, less so!
    • Said it before, but if Annie Lennox is available next year, then it would be an absolute crime to instead book anyone else. She's rare and legendary enough that you drop all other plans.
