i'm pretty sure they'd definitely be headlining

like Neil said, it'd be absolutely massive. no appeal or recognition for under 30's!? seriously!? i think you'd be hard pressed to find people of all ages who don't know Club Tropicana, Careless Whisper, Last Christmas, Freedom and Wake Me Up (even if they're not entirely sure that they're Wham! songs, which they would soon find out if they were announced as headliners)

The standard faces have taken issue with Wham. Nothing surprising there at all.

The more broad minded can see the fun through the rockist fog.

As CalleyGonzo has said theres a dozen songs in George's repetoire that will bring the house down. And the comparison with having them over Florence is valid and welcome!

Surprised at you Tony with the "dick in the mouth" line too. Tut tut 'squire. Tut tut.

Neil, just picking up on 1 of your comments earlier, you said IF the Stones headline there will be a completly different type of act subbing seperate the crowd, isn't the opinion that its Mumfords subbing? Surely the majority who will watch them will stay for The Stones??

Is this a George Michael gig then with the odd Wham tune? I like the odd George Michael tune. Great singer in fairness.

But theres no "fun" about Wham. Its tacky shit. Mindless tacky shit. Time is supposed to whittle away the shit. Not turn what is clearly shit into some sort of ironic nostalgia.

Wham in the Glastonbury headliners thread. And the Cliff Richard thread was deleted.

For fucks sake.

Precisely. Not quite sure why Wooderson is getting so defensive about it. I have never even considered buying a Wham album, or hoped they would reform. I highly doubt anyone else on this thread has either.

So I don't get why anybody would want to stand amongst 80,000 people listening to 90 minutes of it.

    • It’s probably fairly easy to stay in a hotel but I much prefer the camping set up. It was pretty quiet where we camped but a longer walk to the arena but the weather was nice so not a problem. There’s also a lake you can camp by. Once we got off the tube/train we walked down the main road and turned right (festival site is left) and camped down there.    Do you think? They do have water points inside the arena & where I camped there were toilets, showers & water points super close. I think if you time it right the RiP stage is so easy to get close to the front. Second stage is decent & a like the indoor arena for bands on the 3rd stage. I think all the stages sound better than Downloads too, always had issues with the 2nd stage at Download being too quiet. Even main at some points.
    • Interesting that they’ve mentioned Blink-182 in mail. Btw dates for 2027 are 10-12 June. Same dates as Mystic & Sweden Rock and most likely Download, RFP & Greenfield.
    • Scooter are a meme booking. The Chems aren’t viewed in the same way. They’re a serious electronic act, whereas Scooter has only ever been suggested (and now booked) because ‘LOL look how wacky us metalheads are we love silly music too’.
