2013 Headliners

For the only festival in my life, I've become honour bound to camp out at the Pyramid for each headliner. Alls I need is 3 watchable headliners for this one year, basically no Mumford.

She does sing live, she can sing live and she does have some input in her music, but yeah I doubt it's very much. Rihanna isn't the best, her voice isn't amazing, and I'm not even a massive fan honestly.

There's a lot of ignorance on here when it comes to pop music, a lot of it sounds like the stuff angry 15 year old metal heads usually come out with.

Far be it for me or anyone to state who does or does not deserve to play at Glastonbury or any other festival, but we can but provide our own views and opinions.

I was dragged to see Beyonce with the Mrs in 2011 (a small price to pay given that I dominated the majority of the weekend) and even my Mrs was disappointed with the whole pre-show set up ie her entourage coming out and forcing her flags on to people in the crowd, it was just such bs.

Rihanna would just be Beyonce .2, this time handing out mobiles, with another polished vegas performance, in my opinion of course.

I personally just think if you're going to do a festival (especially Glastonbury which traditionally doesn't really have a pop influence) as a major pop act like Beyonce or Rihanna, come out and join in on the festival fun, dress down a bit, rearrange songs etc.

I have to say, assuming that any of this were true, it feels like desperation might be kicking in. Rihanna would have to cancel/postpone an arena date to play the Sunday night, if we have to resort to that to get a headliner I'd say just let Kasabian/Mumfords/Anyone have the Sunday night gig.

I do think that all is lost when the article ends with "Dont be surprised if you see her designing some wellies for her River Island range especially for the event."

All that said, tabloids lie, a lot. Pretty sure that have told us prior year headliners and got it wrong.

Arcade Fire believed to be the main candidate for the #Glastonbury2014 Friday night headlining slot.

Joel, who runs ArcadeFiretube, is a very trustable source for all things Arcade Fire. Note that it's 2014 he's talking about.

Personally I can't abide Rhianna, she's everything I dislike, not just in music but in every aspect.

I also hold her personally responsible for the 2007 floods with that fucking umbrella song. I'll never forgive her for that! Just think of the effect she could have on the festival.......

I don't think people are being ignorant on here. I think people on here realize that 99% of the pop music you hear on the Radio is marketed bullshit and artists like Rihanna, Beyonce and Lady Gaga are taking advantage of it.

Rihanna is an absolutely awful artist and everything she stands for is absolutely awful.

    • We don't have any choice but I don't need a t-shirt for it! 🙂    On the bright side, it gets it out of the way for a nice 5 year run... notwithstanding wars, new contagious diseases and apocalypse.

    • Top 5 acts of the weekend for me: 1. The Cure 2. my bloody valentine  3. caroline 4. Father John Misty 5. Big Thief   Biggest disappointments: - Slowdive (the mixing/sound just wasn’t right, and that was about 20 rows from the front of the stage) - The xx (also too quiet and marred by talkers who had no interest in the music)    Positives from an organisational sense: - extra water point at Mordor this year - handing out ponchos before the rain and ear plugs before mbv    However…two of the water points had ran out on Saturday evening, which is completely unacceptable when you stop people from bringing in large bottles of water, and charge €4.50 at the bars for a 330ml can
