I'm very much in the Prince is overrated camp. Firmly actually. Cracking guitar player but I don't like anything he did in the 80s apart from Sign o' The Times (the song).

Hate 80s pop anyway (its the production) and Little Red Corvette, Kiss, Raspberry Beret etc is basically the sort of music I hate the most. Nice, clean nonsense that silly people listen to in their cars if it comes on the radio. Spanner music.

Love some of his 90s output though.

And The Stones are shite these days.

So can we just have Tom Waits, Van Halen and Joni Mitchell as headliners?

I'm a massive Prince fan, love him to pieces, and the Hop Farm the other year was about as good a show as I've ever seen. Never going to happen, but you know, I can dream.

I've also heard this week a muttering about a 2014 headliner that's already sorted.

as has been said, no way Prince will be in the equation as well as the Stones. one diva act with ridiculous demands is enough for one year. although if all this talk of the Stones being offered a million to play is true then perhaps a similar rise in fee could be applied to Prince in the future (if Prince is seen as as much of a coup as the Stones are to the organisers, which i assume he isn't)

What are considered Prince's classic albums?

Purple Rain and Sign o' the Times?

What are considered the Stones' classic albums?

Exile

Sticky Fingers

Beggars Banquet

Let it Bleed

I make it 4-2 to the old fellas.

2 is not a good score.

Even Van Halen have Van Halen & 1984.

There's only one way to decide this...

We asked 100 people to name a Prince album.

Claire (Primary school teacher from Basingstoke) said "Indigo Nights"

Is it correct and if so, how many people said it?

It's correct...

boobedoopydoo, boopydoopydoo, boopydoopydoo, boopydoopydoo, boopydoopydoo..

less than 50

...boobedoopydoo, boopydoopydoo, boopydoopydoo, boopydoopydoo, boopydoopydoo..

it's still going...

boobedoopydoo, boopydoopydoo, boopydoopydoo, boopydoopydoo, boopydoopydoo..

into single figures!

boobedoopydoo, boopydoopydoo, boopydoopydoo, boopydoopydoo, boopydoopydoo..

It's Pointless!

Well done Claire, you've been a fantastic contestant.

I can't let myself get excited about Prince playing, just can't. I'd love it so much, but it won't happen.

At Hop Farm all the other stages/entertainment were shut down by about 8pm if I remember rightly - I just don't think his ego can take having any other act within a 50 mile radius playing at the same time as him. Obviously I wasn't bothered, because there's no way I'd have been anywhere else anyway, but because of this I just can't see him 'competing' with another popular act on one other stage, let alone several.

Yes huge fan. I've a few of her LPs too. Court and Spark, For the Roses, Hissing of the Summer Lawns, Hejira. Ladies of the Canyon though is utterly sublime, emotional, devastating, beautiful, glorious and otherworldly stuff. I'm not really mad on anything after (and including) Don Juans Reckless Daughter. She went off on the jazz/rock buzz from that point on.

SeventhOne - I love some of the dirty 90s stuff. Just not the 80s. Its production. I hate 80s production. No growl in it at all. And the drums are appalling on most of his 80s stuff. Sounds like it was made on a Casio keyboard. Same for the bass.

Also, Van Halen are 70s rock!!

    • If Werchter pulled in Blink and Foos plus like Sabrina if she's touring and got System if they are I'd be more inclined to try it vs RIP if they got Blink, Foos and System. I don't at the moment, maybe reflection will be different, think that RIP is greatly setup for overseas travelling over. It feels more like currently day festival days with a camping over separate rather than hotel as its included.
    • I think many US people are fed up with the US and have definitely discovered how amazing it is to come to Barcelona for a better experience and way cheaper than back home.   Surely PS doesnt set up a huge commercial festival only to not put in place a system where QR codes can’t be re-used?
    • They'll get Foo Fighters as well.
    • That as a surprise along with The Cure is the best part of the lineup so far.   Probably means though she's about next year again.
    • I also dont think Deftones will tour next year.   But I think RIP will have both Foos and Blink and if SOAD fo festivals that will be your 3.
