Rock Werchter 2026

There are currently so many options for those top 2 spaces each day already and that’s without others announcing over the coming weeks.

The likes of TWOD, Jack White, The XX, Florence & The Machine, Benson Boone, Mumford & Sons, Sabrina Carpenter, Foo Fighters, Lewis Capaldi, Lorde, Kings of Leon, Sam Fender, The Offsping, BMTH, Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish have already been mentioned.

And of course, we already have 3 of the 8 already

I think part of this is about expectations for certain festivals.

Northernangel clearly doesn't like a lot of what he might call "Primavera bands", and comments as such when they get announced, e.g. acts like War on Drugs discussed because of NOS today, or the xx at Opener yesterday.

However those kind of bands have been, and will continue to be, a significant part of the intended genres covered by Werchter. As said above, the bookers themselves are huge fans of the War on Drugs. These kinds of acts being booked is hardly unsurprising, and so criticising it every time it happens gets a bit repetitive.

As a comparison, I think a lot of the bands Download Festival books are crap. I still might have occasional interest in the festival, perhaps for a day ticket like last year for Green Day if I didn't do Werchter instead. If I constantly posted in the Download thread everytime they booked a band I didn't like, but was still on brand and expected for the festival as a whole, then it'd get a bit repetitive, negative and annoying.

I think Lewis Capaldi chances are quite low with his tour, would require a jump over that isn't really within logistics even if I wouldn't mind it. i dont think he'll do back to back days in different countries.

What werchter does very well, which they don't tend to deviate from as it sells tickets. Is they cater for pretty much every mainstream genre.

Yeah exactly, it's a broad festival. Northernangel doesn't seem to have as broad music taste to match and complains quite vocally when it's not something he likes.

Sadly not attending RW next year, but I’d agree that the diversity in the lineup is definitely an advantage.

Once the lineup is complete, there will be enough to keep (almost) any music-lover happy.

The Sunday this year didn’t have a huge amount for me, and the constant torrential rain didn’t help, but I still had an amazing day. It’s just a great festival.

I know this is the time of year to obsess over lineup speculation, but I’d recommend Rock Werchter to pretty much anyone.

Reading NorthernAngel's daily quarrels on the various UK and European festival threads helps to get me through my slow, boring mornings at work! Haha

Has made for some good entertainment on the train just now. The full meltdown at getting an accurate response to a question he posed in the 2000 Trees thread is one of my all time favourites.

Again, I'm not telling anyone they can't like their band and to be honest people have equally said a dislike for what I like lol, doesn't affect me and won't make me enjoy them any less.

It saying I'd rather not have them complaining about it though? It's not saying why do you like them?, why have they booked them?, they are are crap etc! Haven't even said they are rubbish. I have a VERY wide range of music taste, that doesn't have to match your music taste broadly. I like music from rock, pop, punk, metal, punk rock avenues. They don't have to be the same options you do. I've probably openly seen pop options that many on here wouldn't couldn't which is fine.

That was merely a joke since I percieved your comments as unnecessary negative. Apologies if that was not the case.

It's not just straight negative because you say they are a band you'd hope aren't where you go, they probably will be but I'm not saying others can't liek them.

Don't be a silly boy with your posts then eh 😜

You asked which headliners had played arenas, got a reply with the answer, then kicked off about it and tried to argue why it was wrong 😂

And yet you're still going on about it from a tongue and cheek reply lol.

You like Disturbed, should've never tried reasoning with you to begin with...

Yeah defo, was funny at first, but now it's just tiring

What was funny?, I'm not sure what your angle here is?

There isn't anything amusing amount not liking some bands, liking others and preferring a section, it's just preference. It would be funny for you to say who you'd like, it would just be yoir opinion to which you're entitled, its that simple. There's no malice to it, there's no gimmick.

I hardly think people care it I don't like their bands, I don't care if they don't like mine, they won't care if you don't like theirs and vise versa. It's really not that deep, it's purely preference for a festival of the most potential there has been to attend.

I dont think its a case of someone liking a band, its perhaps how you post the comments.

As in life if multiple people think you are a bit of a prat, you are probably a prat.

That being said I don't mind you, no matter what username you are using. The sharing of the Internet IP with your festival original username, that will go as an all time efests moment.

Wasn't it Gaz your original name?

    • I had a great time yesterday and came to the conclusion that everytime (or, more accurately, both times) I didn't have a great time at Primavera, it was water-related. Either there was too much of it (Thursday 2026) or there wasn't enough (Thursday 2022, week 1).
    • I sacrificed the first hour of the cure for Role model yesterday and oh man that was a good bet! That guy and his band are insanely good and an hour long only bangers!

    • Possibly not as there are chair size restrictions in the seated area, for the guidelines see here -  https://www.bbc.co.uk/backstage/radio2inthepark/bring   Have a look into applying for Access and I would recommend contacting them for further advice before buying a ticket - https://www.bbc.co.uk/backstage/radio2inthepark/access  They should also be able to answer if you can take a wheelchair into the seated area 🙂
