The Peel commission partitioning which established the state of israel was accepted by Israel and rejected by the Arabs. Since then Rabin (see above) Barak and Olmert have all developed and proposed 2 state models (Barak said,”we will never have a happy

marriage, let’s have a civilized divorce”) but Hamas’ charter which simply refuses to accept the existence of Israel has never allowed any of these to progress.

'Hamas' charter never allowed any of these to progress.'

Hamas prevented solutions from progressing 50 years before they were formed?

Do you see any kind of disconnect in the militarised power of the IDF that represents only 1 section of the population and harasses the other whilst the Palestinian people are not allowed ANY kind of defensive measure?  This conflict is asymmetric, one side has all the power.  Is that defensible when hundreds are being wounded and dozens dying almost every day?  How many murders is an acceptable number?

I think Israel have committed a lot of atrocities since October 7, they've gone way too far on many occasions and I will never once defend the IDF and what they have done in Gaza.

Hamas would do even worse to Israel if they had the capabilities to do so though. Overall they are worse than Israel.

Probably poor grammar. The death of the IDF has a consequence of millions of dead Jews. Not him calling for it leading to millions of dead Jews.

It doesn't. We've established that. You keep repeating it though, so we'll keep repeating this.

Let me try to write it clearer

I do not think Bob Vylan calling for the IDF to die will mean anyone actually dies.

I think if the IDF actually dies then millions of Jews would be very quickly murdered.

Calling for it doesn't mean it would happen, but it's pretty stupid to do it anyway.

I’m not surprised, seeing as it led to Palestine losing most of its land

Most of the Middle East had borders reshaped and new countries emerging after WW2. Israel isnt the only 20th century country to have been born from the outcome of war. Happens all the time. I am saying that there have been opportunities to accept and compromise on a peaceful solution; I’d say Israel has tried harder than the Arabs to grasp these.

This is spot on. I would say were the tables turned, we'd be seeing a real genocide.

You did completely dodge the questions, going for Godwins Law and talking about Nazi Germany as if it has any f**king relevance with this situation today.

1) Hamas can release the hostages and Israel can end it's invasion. feels like an obvious aim for both at this point to me.

2) The Iron Dome does nothing against a ground invasion. It needs Defence Forces for that.

3) I agree, long term a 2 state solution with backing and support from international partners is the only seemingly viable option for peace in the region.

None of that is achieved with the death of the IDF.

I was talking about Germany's armed forces and the only "developed" nation that committed anything like this since the 40's was Serbia and on a smaller scale. Their leaders were prosecuted. It is HIGHLY relevant. You're just choosing to go "la, la, la, this is fine and necessary" when it isn't. OK. For one second, let's just say neither you or I are right. Let's go and see what the United Nations amd the ICC says and settle it.

OH! THEY SAY IT'S A GENOCIDE. I won't claim to be happy that I appear to have been right, because...you know...genocide.

I was literally responding to a post where you were justifying the existence of the IDF, which is clearly a defence of the organisation.

Again, why are Palestinians not allowed to defend themselves but Israelis are?  What is the dividing line between one human being and another that makes only one of those lives worth defending.

They won't, because the "world" wouldn't LET that happen. You're literally MENTAL if you think that if Iran invaded Israel it wouldn't be ended by the west inside a week.

I literally have never once said what Israel is doing is ok. In fact I've said the opposite.

Palestinians are allowed to defend themselves. Not sure murdering innocent civilians at a music festival is great defence work, mind.

The IDF's existance is the only reason Israel exists. That doesn't mean I'll defend their behaviour.

Just wondering how many are aware that there is compulsory military service in Israel, both for men and women. Two years at the age of 18, then regular call ups until a certain age. Therefore no one between those ages is a civilian

So it would be quite easy to set up a new DEFENCE force, with a new command structure that doesn't conveniently miss a load of intelligence, underman a flashpoint area and then doesn't go on a slash and burn mission with the aim of turning land that isn't theirs into a seaside resort? Cool.

Out of reactions, but thanks. This is the truth of the matter. There was a very revealing article on the BBC in which they interviewed soldiers on watch around the 7th October. Very hard to believe so many genuine “mistakes” were made and so many trained and experienced observers “accidentally” ignored.

They have Hamas....who carried out the attack and took hostages that triggered this response from Israel.

It's all the fault of the Palestinians you see.  No need to acknowledge that Netanyahu has not made one step towards peace in his time in power.

'accidentally'

ok...so now we're going there. It was all an Israeli masterplan.

The most security focused nation on the planet with arguably the most effective secret service misses obvious signs of what was happening

    • It was always going to be the cost. stuff like this:
    • Man/Woman/Chainsaw anyone? Still 4-5 secret sets to be filled.   New album out today and Rough Trade friendly.
    • can't edit, but just to add to the above:   i get that the last bit is meant to reinforce the message that they are all horrible people and closing ranks to cover up what has happened and carry on with their lives while poor Celeste is left alone with her trauma...   i get it thematically, i just really hated the way it was on screen and i say that my ending would have made for a better movie.   🙂
    • Sadly, the ticket map below screams rear 5 blocks not on sale or never have been on sale. Especially when you look at the blue blocks with rows of unsold tickets.   And I say all of this as a big fan of Muse.
    • Personally, I don't think there will be any changes to the queuing system in place for the 2025 sale.  GFL will be aware that true bots are a risk, but they may also see large collectives of organised folks running multiple devices, containers or profiles to get an advantage as bots themselves, and then struggle to know where to draw the line without penalising folks who are simply more on the ball than others.   They will also be acutely aware that engineering tech to close those gaps will cost, and therefore eat into the money they are able to pass to the Charities, without passing those costs on to punters in the ticket price, which they will be cautious of doing especially after a 2 year break and the inevitable media coverage that will get.   This may all be naive and overly trusting of me though.....
