As a first poster its ok. Obviously lots more to add. The headliners are not doing it for me so my guess is I'll be looking at the smaller stages, we'll see. But plenty to see already and not even listened to those i don't know on the poster. Part of the pre fest fun is to discover new acts to see there.

From the list that jumps out for me.

Gary Numan, Maccabees ( reunion ), Blossoms, Alanis ( can't wait for that), Celeste, Future Islands, St Vincent.

 

Hoping for maybe Tears for Fears but got Gary Numan for some nostalgia. Hoping Yola might appear again, really enjoyed seeing her headline in the Westfield tent 2022 (?). As said maybe this year as smaller stage headliner.

Odds on Green Day popping up at some point as a secret set? Weezer are supporting them through a lot of their EU dates before and after Glasto.

But the money has reportedly been an issue with bookers in the past. They could be persuaded, but I'd consider it unlikely.

This is utter cope sorry hahaha. This is the same festival that's had Paul McCartney and Elton John headline in recent memory - and I say this has someone who went both those years, and has tickets for this year too.

Who would you like to see who is a similar level to Macca or Elton ?  Neil Young is a pretty high profile name from the same era.

disagree, you obviously don't like it but going down very well with ticket holders isn't it? Absolutely something for everyone on it - you're not meant to like it all, you'd never have enough time in the day to see it all, but if you like 10 acts then it's a pretty great first poster for you, bearing in mind that will pretty much double with the further announcements.

 

You know for a fact that its a national sport to bash glastonbury by those who won't admit they're jealous they haven't got tickets - even though they'll spend the whole weekend indoors watching it, like clockwork every year 😄 

People look at the lineup and go "1975 headlining, that means the lineup must be crap", without actually looking at the lineup

You can’t book a McCartney or an Elton every year though, as evidenced by every other year when they don’t have a McCartney or Elton, which is every year except 2004, 2022 and 2023. It’s impossible.

Sorry but Neil Young is definitely not a high profile name by any standards. We are coping here. This is the weakest trio of headliners in decades (and I personally enjoy the 1975)

 

And to answer your first question there are some similar level acts to the ones mentioned currently touring such as Beyonce or Gaga.

McCartney and Elton are now weirdly used as a stick to beat Glastonbury with - two absolute one offs, such good bookings, coups that no other festival could pull off - "well there's no Macca or Elton this year". Well yeah obviously!

I think all that demonstrates is you don't know anything about Neil Young. Might wanna check the size of the venues he's playing 😄

On the metric of it being three Pyramid headliners who could smash a live show out of the park, you're onto a winner, I'd say.

Neil Young isn’t high profile to you. Not everyone else.

 

North of 30m albums sold, 28 Grammy nominations, numerous publications list him in their lists of greatest artists, best bands, best guitarists, best song writers etc etc.

 

Your standards to be high profile are what exactly? Is the list limited to Paul McCartney, Stones, Oasis, Elton John, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift? Woof, only 9 possible headliners available in the world to impress you that are “high profile”.

Glastonbury can't have a worldie every year, and that doesn't mean they're struggling either.

 

Stormzy, The Killers and The Cure is generally regarded as one of the best trio of headline sets we've had in the last decade-and-a-half, I'd argue.

Neil Young awareness differs person to person I find. I know some people that would be up for him, and some who would be like a friend this morning who asked "Who the f**k is that"

 

For me, I'd say there's a decent enough array of stuff I'd see. Moot point given I'd be watching on iPlayer, but still.
