Oh nvm. There. Your yearly hate watching schedule

Never really paid that much attention to Coachella tbh.  Hate's a bit much but personally I'd really struggle to get 3 days out of that lot, at least with the way it's scheduled.

Had a look at the site map to get my head around walking between stages, and the bit that jumped at me is how close the Mojave, Gobi and Sonora stages are together.  Is the sound bleed between them as bad as it looks it would be? Or does te way the map's drawn make it look worse?

It really brings home how different the UK market is to the US.  There are a few decent acts I'd check out scattered through the weekend but most of it is just dross for my taste.  Only 2 acts I'd check out on Sunday are Simz and Twigs, only act on the main stage being The XX (maybe Sabrina Carpenter at a push just because she's got a couple of good pop tunes).

The US and Canada has a great musical history, has produced some groundbreaking acts that have legendary albums and we get Justin Bieber.  Also seems like a crime to only have 4 or 5 acts per day on the main stage.

One smaller act on the bill I really enjoy is Model/Actriz, I'll be sure to check out their stream to see how they do live.

I don't know about dross, for me it's more just that it's loads I've never heard of. And don't get me wrong it's not like I go to Glastonbury knowing every single act that's playing, and naturally the higher number of stages = more acts = greater chance of having heard of some.  But I'd have heard enough noise around bands, or a song or two, or at least a general vibe around them, to say "yeah I'd go watch them".  So yeah, could probably educate myself a bit more about what's on the bill, but it ain't grabbing me.

And def agree on the main stage volume.  That just seems crazy low for the time available.

More, your yearly exercise in thinking people here care more about Coachella than they actually do. Enjoy.

Presume there’s no camping

I believe that they camp in the car parks in a kind of parking and camping space arrangement like a massive 'tailgate party' that US media tells me is a thing at events.  Kind like hosting woodstock on an airbase tarmac there are a whole host of things that I don't really understand with US festivals.  We are spoiled having a host of fields in a beautiful valley in which to enjoy ours.

Yeah, maybe dross is a bit of a bad choice of words.  It sort of illustrates the gulf between the US music market and our own that so many names mean nothing over here.

Crowd going pretty wild for Slayyyter -  doesn't seem like she has made much of a dent over here yet,  Think there a sold out mid size venue tour later this year -   But definitly seems like she could be the next US act to blow up.

Havent had a chance to check the new album yet but heard its good.

It will always be different from the UK market but we just can't compare to Glastonbury with so many other stages, especially not now. When the lineups were stellar way back when there was an argument for main stages so to speak.

But on schedule, Friday is virtually Moby then Sabrina who I'm warmed to more as time has gone on. Her changing her image has helped with that a lot though. She's reigned in a lot and stopped being a very bad role model for the younger generation....good to see when peopel change it around though.

Saturday would have been Jack White and The Strokes....usually that's banging but obviously 45 minutes start of the day and co-headline this time.

Sunday for Iggy Pop, The Rapture, Kaskade. Maybe a bit of Major Lazer. But apart from Iggy it wouldn't bother me that much to miss the others.

Friday for Moby and Sab probably hits the best for me but while it's very poor from my opinion, one if the worst Coachella lineups on paper to be honest, I'm  ot the target audience anymore just like the Readings etc. And they booked more of a rockier lineup in parts last year. Booked Green Day and Lady Gaga, booking Travis did not help one jot though. And they struggled to sell it out.

Oddly a couple from Portland came over for Download last year and were there mainly for Green Day. They said people in the states don't care as much about them. I mean usually even the sight of Green Day for Coachella would have a been a lap it up.

Well it looks like this was the plan before heavy wind meant Anyma cancelled.

Guess we'll see if it rolls over as an idea to next week.

Guessing the sets don't go straight on YouTube on demand?

Struggling to find anything from The XX, beyond one short

If you put the main stage live feed on now, they're currently re-showing Teddy Swims and then The XX will be on after that. Or rewind about 8 hours and you can find it.

Could Sabrina headline Glasto in 2027?

Yes. She'll be one of the front runners with no UK shows this year.

Only Coachella headliner this year though with any chance of being chosen and by past times, everyone of them should be an option really.

Blimey

Mid/late afternoon stage starts

Lots and lots of limited 45 minute sets, long changeovers

And what booker put Jack White up as first act on a lesser stage.

I've got Blondshell on and I can hear the crowd talking all though the set!

She is great but I'm giving the audience 0/10

It's just a guest 45 minute spot, loads of big names have done it recently, it's become a Coachella thing. Ed Sheeran and Blink both did it.

hold on. But secret sets at glasto are fine? Small stage big act? He was added onto the schedule 5 days ago. He chose to do it. Ed sheeran did it last year. I didnt care. Its not a prestige knock.

no. Theyre close, it doesnt matter like you think. Sonora is  totally enclosed anyway.  Unless you were a very quiet act it wont be a big deal. Beth Gibbons fell victim last yesr because if green day on main stage. But thats few and far between on having somebody that quiet. But being able to walk to another stage in 2 mins is bad? Its convenient. You dont have to choose one act and commit. You can split sets.

please remember the stream schedule starts at 4, not actually the festival. Music has been going since 1:30. some stuffs delayed cause of the broadcast.

but i guess byrne and nine inch noize appealed to nobody. Got it. Have fun. One more day.

it also shows how much little lineup research peiple do when you say theres nothing to watch.

    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
