I went in there a couple of times year before last . Stocks levels / product offferings seemed a bit scattergun. If you are absolutely wedded to a particular mixer / brand I would be a bit wary about availability (even if you know they sell it in regular offsite Co-ops).

if you are just looking for ‘something to use a mixer’ then you would def be fine

I didn’t go last year though , and others may have different experience. Was later when I went in also

I am pretty certain they have to stick to coca cola products as they have/had the on-site concession. So that restricts the availability.

Exceptions apply if coke just don't have a version of that product.

@clarkete You alive mate?

Unlike you to be away from the boards for nearly a month!

Yes, family misery unfortunately, but thanks for asking 😘

Now I've received ticket, boshed some stuff into clashfinder and some normality restored...oh and 3 weeks having a cram at increasing fitness a touch so my corpulent body can navigate the site and get back up the HoD at night 👍

Will wait to hear what clarkete has to say before purchasing 🙂

It's done us great during hot years so there was plenty of ice.  As we were opening it during that great heat often at least once per hour then periodically we needed to pour off the water,  but it pretty much got through every day.  If you've either got a van or are passing the co op daily for ice I highly recommend.  We supplemented with frozen lemon, although tbh they defrosted quicker last year obviously.

Both were good for our drinks and also as on occasion the bar drinks were a bit sorry (eg room temp short plus mixer and no ice), some bars far better though.

The CoOp doesn't sell Indian Tonic Water.

Yes, year before last at one point I think we paid a quid 50 for a can of sprite from a food stall to mix with gin.  Tbh tasted OK and certainly better than neat gin or gin and soda.

Thanks...I purchased two of the 800 ml ones 🙂

I will be camping in Paines and the co-op isn't too far from there. 🙂

How many drinks did each refill of ice get you out of interest?

That would be tricky, as of course it depends how much ice you put in each drink, but two of us probably had 5 or 6 drinks and each one had a couple of cubes.  Plenty of time for a good test run 😊

I'm afraid to be honest it's been a bit grim, but I think important to not avoid the subject.

I've got one relative that needed to get an emergency care placement, so that folks could (hopefully) better meet their needs.

Sadly the more traumatic thing was that someone very dear to me killed himself.  It wasn't out of the blue as he'd struggled with mental health for years, but somehow even though he had previous attempts I naively hadn't thought thought it would happen.

Now some weeks have passed, they had a beautiful service and therefore I'm looking forward to a bit of normality 👍

Hmmm.  Sorry to hear that.

One of my brothers friends killed himself two weeks ago...no hint to anyone of any mental health issues, stood in front of a train on bank holiday Monday....I knew the guy very vaguely too but not that well.

Hopefully you'll have a good Glastonbury to help you get through it. 🙂

Oh no, that's awful 😢.

I have thought in the weeks since (where in our case it was dreadful enough), how much of a shock it must be for friends and family where it was entirely out of the blue.

Yes, I'm OK thanks, there are others who it was more of a bolt from the blue.  Given I did know...one would always wonder what if anything could have helped 😥

Speaking as someone with depression (chronic at times) I can confidently state that there wasn't.

I've come close to taking my own life twice and in my pit of despair I genuinely don't think anything or anyone could have stopped me taking that final step.  Luckily for me, I have some coping techniques and know when to access help when it gets bad, but it totally relies on me recognising how bad things have gotten and reaching out rather than giving up.

Please don't feel any blame or guilt.  Trust me, that's the last thing the would have wanted.

Thank you so much for sharing.  Clearly few would be as open as you and it means so much.

Be well ❤️

Does anyone know if the onsite Co-op sells canned lager or ales?

I’m on the coach this year with limited carrying capacity. I plan to use the proper bars a lot, but I find a backpack of cans is still best for night times / spending longer periods at stages.

Unfortunately they do not sell alcohol.

spirits + buying mixer from ice cream vans / coop is good for night

Any idea if there is a crisp ban in place this year (or at least a ban on normal crisp packets)? Last year Coop only stocked a make I had never heard of which came in a eco friendly packet. They were okay but expensive as I remember...

There never has been (and won't be in the foreseeable future) a crisp ban in terms of bringing your own. Just some security not understanding their instructions, which got sorted out pretty quickly.

I've been a keen user of the on-site Co-Op the last two years as we camp very near to it so it's very handy.

  • To avoid queues go early or late
  • Selection is limited but OK
  • They sold out of bags of ice almost as soon as they could load them into the freezers because of the heat in 2023. One morning I popped in, there were approx 80 people just milling around an empty freezer waiting for the ice replenishment. As soon as it did arrive it was like Lord Of The Flies with people squabbling over it. All in all "not very Glastonbury".

I do question why they do it a little. For a festival that pushes its green credentials heavily, having a load of freezers running constantly does seem a teeny bit hypocritical.

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
