West Holts is absolutely stacked for me - Justice, Masego, Nia Archives, Brittany Howard, Sugababes, Noname, and more that I probably won't be able to catch due to the rest. Was so so happy to see Brittany back on the poster after 2020 was no more.

Slightly tangential, but is this the youngest ever line-up on El Pointo?

Usually there's an act who started their career in - at least - the 70s, and frequently the 60s.

This year the vintage acts are Paul Heaton and Cyndi Lauper.

Had to happen one day of course, but it is missing someone with a pack of standards in their arsenal.

By my count we've 6 spots left on the Pyramid so still some time to balance things out a little.

Defo feels light on the vintage though. Then again, there's only 9 years between Cyndi Lauper's first album and PJ Harvey's... We're all getting very old.

I loved Justice in 2017. An amazing set, the crowd were phenomenal, and almost my whole camp was together, which was very special.

But, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that, for me, the Bicep set was even better.

I liked the Justice set and the vibe was great, but it wasn't even in the top 3 acts I saw that day, never mind that weekend.

And up against very little competition that night. WH will be rammed. Esp give their legendary set in 2017 being widely known about. A lot of people will want to recreate that night and a lot will want to experience the same night.

Annoying if it is Nia Archives subbing though as I have no interest in seeing DnB on West Holts (even if it is a live performance).

Stevie Nicks/Chaka Khan were the obvious targets.  Still gutted by the omission of Chaka.

I only have a few acts left on my bucket list, I was certain I’d get to tick this one off this year.

Oh really, how come? I thought Nia into Justice would be pretty awesome myself.

It’s pretty close to ideal.

Having done my first clash finder, it’s neck and neck between West Holts and The Glade

Its just me: I like dnb, but i don’t really want to hear more than one track in a row…

Yeah, for me too. It doesn't help there's no other options on the main stages sub/headliner that night. Maybe Romy on Woodsies, but on a Sunday night, I just couldn't see my weary legs walking all the way from Woodsies to WH in time for a good spot for Justice.

It felt like her whole tour was arranged around a Pyramid set.

OK that turned out to be Meltdown, but she's still in the UK over G weekend just twiddling her thumbs

I know it’s never gonna happen, but if they’ve got Chaka on for a secret/Churnups type set and I miss it, I will be FUMING!

I think she’ll play next year

Yeah, the fact she acknowledged the festival and being tied up elsewhere preventing her do it makes me think she’s already in talks for the next one. Not really the type of act they have for secret sets - usually pretty standard festival bands taking those.

    • Rumours are it's called The Lost Tour. In the US in September. Ireland in November (so UK+Europe a good bet around November/early December).
    • Hey guys, is there a group going for any solo y not goers this year?? I couldn’t miss out once I saw the acts but it’s just me and would be great to meet some others:))
    • After deciding to abandon the festival, here's a few of my thoughts (mostly negative tbf).    On the positive side - was it just me or were there a few more urinals than last year? Seemed to help the queues at the loos a bit from what i saw. Plus they had at least had some foresight and had a few more covered areas in the VIP areas.    Now on the negatives.  The weather was admittedly pretty crap but it wasn't apocalyptic. How the actual f**k are bits of the main stage falling off in those conditions?  Then the communication was awful, there's a load of people who left the site because they were told by security guards/other personnel that there would be no more acts on the main stage this evening.  You have an app Primavera, use it! Yes, there's a shitload going on I'm sure but communication with the festivalgoers should be one of the top priorities. You failed.    And I'm not usually somebody who buys into the whole "oh this is hugely unsafe and it's lucky people weren't hurt" narrative, but all the above led to movements of people that were genuinely unsafe.  Evacuating Mordor entirely (again... Why???) and then having a horde of people trying to get in because they thought they were going to Massive Attack was insane.  And given a lot of people basically abandoned ship around 10.30pm the crush at both the exit to the festival and the entrance to the Metro was pretty dangerous.   Conditions happen, most people will get that....but the contingencies have to be better.
    • You'd think that something like bad weather was in the basics of festival planning. After the shitshow of Madrid, you'd think they'd learnt their lesson, apparently not...
    • Same. Shower and back out in a taxi!
