Actually very baffled that Neil Young has been quite this vocal. Given that Michael thinks so highly of him, unorthodox to say the least.

Love to know what was said or done that provoked that article

contract stuff. If he didnt like certain things that couldnt be changed and such then he just said no. Or if he had been signed on and discovered this he backed out and thats that. Either broadcast stuff or if he had to do certain things.

Neil "doesnt play corporate festivals"  Young

Stinks that he drops Glastonbury because "too corporate" when he's played festivals like this.

A festival with no corporate sponsors that wasn't televised anywhere? Yeah great point you're making there.

Stevie would be great. Shame about Young but there’s always a chance he could have rocked up and done a curmudgeon set. Instead he’s just flounced off over TV coverage instead. More convenient this way.

Agreed. Having watched his excellent set in 2009 I have a feeling it wouldn’t be anywhere near as good.

    • Chaka can, or Chaka can't?
    • TVOD are playing Blue Basement in London 2/9 with a complete EOTR/Psych Fest shaped hole before their next gig in Lyon on 8/9. Well received in the Big Top last year, reckon they're nailed on for a secret set in the Tipi.
    • Didn't they widen the entrance last year to enable them to increase the number of pitches or have I imagined this? Perhaps they might return under a different form of glamping?    Just had another thought - Or even rent the land to the festival for CV pitches.......
    • It should forever be the Tipi.   Just as the news about Geese was shared on Twitter.
    • It really surprised me that Rock AM Ring made Download feel like an extremely well organised festival with good communication in comparison. If we were to ever try either of them again we would go for IM Park and stop in Nuremberg.     Agree that the long thin mainstage isn't great, but where the mainstage is makes it really hard to navigate when it is busy because of that choke point created by the food vendors, bar/lounges with a view of main and where the crowd is coming form second stage. The concrete is hard on the joints. The front standing is a pisstake and the communication from the fest about what is happening on site other than which campsites are filling up leaves a lot to be desired. Car parks being a free for all doesn't help either.   I think it really suffers being so far from anything other than small towns/villages that lack proper public transport and Koblenz being the closest town which you can can use to get public transport to the fest being 60km away.
