2025 Headliners

Reckon we have three major names right now to fill Neil's gap - Fender, Muse and Stevie.

Fender absolutely makes sense but again it would be unprecedented to have three young headliners.

Stevie would be an absolute dream and an excellent name for a veteran act with a crowd-pleasing back catalogue.

But I think Muse are a really good shout for it. Got festivals lined up for next year, a reliable headliner with many recognisable hits and an excellent show every time they've played. Maybe I'm biased because I am a massive fan but I think I can see it.

The 1975/Muse/O-Rod at the minute.

Just can’t see Muse headlining in 2025. They are great live but everything they’ve released in the past few years has been absolute sh*t

Didn’t have the whole thing written into his contract as a non-negotiable though which is probably the key difference.

Bring on Stevie.

Stevie would be great. Shame about Young but there’s always a chance he could have rocked up and done a curmudgeon set. Instead he’s just flounced off over TV coverage instead. More convenient this way.

This was my opinion too but it seems Glastonbury have burnt through several options at this point to get to where they are now so Muse might be one of the last acts wiling and available to do it, especially with them not having any UK fests lined up that we know of.

Obviously there’s a few months to go, but it probably means a replacement is on the smaller side.

There won’t be a mega A lister filling the spot.

So someone who is…..

A. Touring

B. Willing to do it/it would be a big move career wise

Step forward…..

Sam Fender

He does have a free weekend tbf.

Surely it has to be Robbie Williams.

If the intel was 1975 for Friday and Rodrigo Sunday, then that only leaves Saturday as the day with the slot Neil Young just vacated. A day where Robbie is playing Werchter Classic in Belgium, so he wouldn't be about.

Love a twist in the headliner story, especially when it’s someone that I personally wasn’t too bothered about.

Interesting who gets that spot now, financially think there could still be money in the bank for a big name, not sure O-Rod and 1975 will demand a huge fee.

Could AC/DC be approached? Adele was rumoured to do some home

coming shows in 2025 before a long hiatus, and a seemingly good rapport with the Eavis, could she be worth a call? Can they finally get Wonder booked? Would the Gallaghers have any interest in Glasto being the grand curtain raiser?

Also plenty of people more lowkey. Muse around but would be underwhelming. Maybe Charli XCX or Sam Fender will get the opportunity.

Exciting though, and at least gives us plenty of reason not to talk about South West America hydration for the time being.

No to ACDC.

    • The Radio Dept.?! That's a surprise to me, they haven't toured in like 8 years. Hopefully they will announce some more shows.
    • I was assuming September in Stirling might have a different issue tbf in the form of it just pissing it down.
    • Yeah so many of mine seem to be just France v Spain in one semi and England/Brazil v Argentina in the other. But the fact those combos are the obvious ones mean it feels unlikely that'll happen because in World Cup history, you very rarely end up with what pre-tournament looks like the obvious final 4. We all see teams outperform and underperform. Which one is the fall guy is a different matter.   I've said elsewhere that for me, there's a hierarchy of Spain, France and Argentina as the 3 strongest looking, then England and Portugal, then Brazil and Germany, but that overall, they'd be the 7 likeliest to win. So I dunno, maybe this will be the time the Netherlands avenge the failure of total football in 1974 and achieve what they couldn't achieve through whatever the f**k Nigel de Jong was with his 2010 final karate moves.
    • Oh I think Infantino should resign. His handling of the whole WC process has been an utter shitshow. But you know. That would require him having integrity or something.
    • Good Charlotte would be fine third down or subbing. If they can get a bigger sub and still get GC, they’ll play third down.
