2025 Headliners

Could Mariah Carey really do it? I mean for a non-Christmas tour?

Looking at her setlists, she seems to do Christmas themed shows in Nov/Dec, and then completely different shows in the other 10 months (which don't usually have any of the Christmas songs in them).

This is the setlist from her recent Vegas run, and tbh it's not something that I'd expect to fill Hyde Park:

Put it on sale around now and as said, a uk exclusive, and would be fine.

Seems unlikely she'd support Stevie - he would have dirt cheap support surely as he's guaranteed to sell it well

I mean, with two spots left, I could buy Stevie and Mariah as the two remaining headliners.

I also know you can get Thursday shows at BST - my stumbling block for Stevie is that the only weekend dates left at Hyde Park would be a fortnight later. Sure, he and the band could just kick their heels in the big smoke for a few weeks, but it doesn't feel like it lines up.

Somebody like The 1975, on the other hand, are all British-based (I think?), so it's not exactly a logistics stretch for them.

Rumours of The Prodigy wasn’t there? Would expect 4 from them and Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Jack White, Nick Cave, Biffy Clyro and I think there was a strong rumour of Yungblud but not sure how legit the source was.

I often wonder if this is a parody topic, now I know for sure.

Mariah as a Glastonbury headliner 😂

She's had discussions in the past, but it didn't work out.

10 years later, it's not happening is it.

What about Kings of Leon for the ???? slot? They are in Cardiff on the Sunday so would have to be Fri or Sat but could they be one of The Other headliners? Weirdly don’t have a feel for how popular they are - maybe too big for The Other?

I can't see Biffy Clyro not being there. If the Loyal Carner Saturday is correct which there is a strong source saying it's not elsewhere then The Prodigy could well be Friday as that has been infooo, albeit weaker info. Olivia vs Charli I don't see much different to Dua Lipa vs SZA originally and both two totally different artists. Just like Dua Lipa and SZA, I'm not left wondering which act to watch out of Olivia and Charli. I think if Chappell is Sunday before Olivia it would be an interesting crowd split. Olivia vs The Prodigy is comfortably my biggest clash so if that is avoided I would watch them over any of the others whoever was booked at this point out of the one's mentioned.

I reckon a lot of people would see them at that level but they won’t. While they’re selling out Arenas they’ve no need.

    • Yep, honestly this seems like the most likely option right now.
    • Agree. Also there was a lot more crossing over between stages. I know they need to put the cure, the xx and Gorillaz on the main stages but if they could have put your Blood Orange, Big Thief, Baxter Dury on Cupra and Occident with Jade and Pinkpantheress on the main stages, it would have been a massive improvement.
    • 100% THIS! I haven't quite been able to put my finger on it, but I think you've just nailed why I didn't enjoy this year as much as usual. In last years edition, the likes of Slowdive or Big Thief would have had evening slots at Cupra or Occident, instead of being shoved on to the main stages during the day. Apart from the very biggest acts (ie The Cure, the pop headliners), most performances at Mordor just lack that special "wow, I'm so lucky to be here" feeling that I remember from the Jesus Lizard and Anhoni sets that you've mentioned.  Sidenote: I wonder if there's a decent chunk of ticket holders that gravitate towards Mordor simply because it's the biggest stage, without really caring who's playing at that time, thus the increased (and incredibly noticeable) yapping.
    • Some horrible talkers around me as well for that one. Plus the mobile beer taps pressing through almost all the way to the front, which really should be illegal.
    • 1. Kevin Morby - Little Wide Open  2. feeble little horse - bitknot 3. Genesis Owusu - Redstar Wu and the Worldwide Scourge    Decent month though - Kurt Vile and Ed O'Brien would have been top 3 most months
