They were not headliners though, and it’s more interesting to look at who was headlining in Alt-j and CATQ, and note just how far those acts are away from being Pyramid headliners now.

And they were never on that path to begin with and that’s fine.

Or bands of a very high quality who have a large enough appeal to headline a significant stage but aren’t big enough with the Nando’s crowd to headline the Pyramid.

Nandos crowd ffs😂

I don’t think the crowd comes in to it, acts have to be a certain size to headline the Pyramid. The Pyramid of course has a bad rep from some as far as the crowd is concerned, but there are plenty of interchangeable acts, such as Foals, Tame Impala and Alt-J who have previously played on the Pyramid and then headlined other, and a ton of other acts inbetween.

Apropos of nothing, stretching back for a while now, Other Stage headliners are a sorry combination of acts who are never going to be big enough to headline the Pyramid, and acts who shone brightly very briefly and now look like embarrassing bookings in hindsight.

Or dance acts that would be shit in the daytime

He's decent but that's all he is, I can see why he'd make a living off music but I don't understand what all the crazy hype is about and it mostly seems to be in the UK. He'd probably be good on WH though.

Pretty sure it was his Coachella set that started off the mega hype.

I probably shouldn’t have started the Nando’s discourse; it wasn’t even aimed at Fred again! In other news I have listened to a bit more of his stuff. Not quite sure how he has gotten quite so much hype but I have heard much worse.

Have you seen his Boiler Room set?

This was essentially what took him to a whole new level, worth a watch.

If you don't like it, it's probably not your bag!

Brussels, Canada, America. The hype is all over the place.

Okay I might be converted , this is superb

Just got around to listening to this ……. Much much better I agree, nothing like the music on AL 1, 2 or 3

it reminds me of something else and I just can’t place it. Much better though but he’s gonna have to release another 90 mins worth of this gear to get me to whichever stage he’s on.

Thumbs up for that track though.

There comes a point when it's no longer hype and it's a genuine phenomenon. Packing out venues everywhere he goes with seemingly universal praise. It might be slightly over the top, it might be completely justified. I'm somewhere in the middle. Having seen his show last year I was really impressed and his popularity has only increased in line with the level of his output. I think he's a few hits with collaborations away from a proper run at the mainstream. We'll see what happens then...

    • They are going to have Blink 182 for sure, early June upto around Werchter weekend I'd say for them. Two of Sweden Rock,  Greenfield and RFP are going to miss out.
    • I've come across a few this weekend saying Deftones aren't big enough for Download.   I would recommend b&b hotel hbf the night before....cheap, comfortable and very decent. Within 10 minutes from the station and a tram stop outside to jump on...all travel is free during the festival time as well with a kombi. Lidl is very good and cheap I can't lie....€6 for a chair with carey handle, €20 with a bag too...you can work that out yourself.   If you camp, get up at 5am and go to the queue....literally don't question it as now I know.     The travel wise part is easy when you get the hang of it and I've never had an easier exit from a festival today tbh. We were camped in the turn left section but past the registration and to get water you have to come right out.   Opening up an exit through he camp at least by Friday morning when everyobe is there would be much better but you csnt walk through general if you're green and sonon.   I think the issue for me probably too is I have never taken like a mutliple litre water too, I've always done a 6 pack water from like poundland lol but you definitely need it. I had one shower that was cold lol   Talking of getting into the front, Volbeat was the only easy one, for Maiden and especially Linkin Park if you weren't in the queue for it by at least the last quarter ot Architects you had no hope....it was shocking. I do like orbit to sit down. I had to decide to sack off Within Temptation too or no chance.   Second stage biggest gripe is the faff of walking all the way round when VIP or whatever it is literally get access to each bit. I did read tbh before going people though RIP/Ring was turning too much the wrong way.   Also as a side note, caught some of Limp Bizkit last night too and they are not headliner but any distance at all. Yes they pull a crowd...they would do with LP finished but on the grand scale its a super weak booking. Stop, start for video recordings all the way through a headline set?, 1hr 15 minutes and you can't play for that time. I'm so glad they were not chosen to headline main.   On another thing, if RIP played it right they'll get GC and Avril to sub/second stage headline on the Blink day.   Toilets and cleanliness is a big plus I will say that.
    • Any of the likes of Keo, Basht. and Cardinals could all fit in here.  Although they’re the sort of bands that could fit many of the stages at Glastonbury
    • Glasto loves a come back act - how about the Rapture?
    • Yeah mentioned in the park thread but feel more Woodsies to me
