With it looking unlikely that Maiden and Rammstein are playing I think we may see something like this:

A7X / MCR / Aerosmith

No idea if MCR or Aerosmith have any plans to tour (especially Aerosmith, swear they’ve done about 5 farewell tours?!).

A7X is probably the only one I’d put a bet on.

Aerosmith aren't gonna be there. Steven Tyler seriously injured himself. He can't sing and their farewell tour is postponed perhaps indefinitely.

Hmm that shakes things up a bit. Wonder if both Rammstein and Maiden were the original plan but both fell through or if it was duff info from the get go.

No Rammstein is a shame as they’re not as ever present as a lot of other headliners and obviously deliver a hell of a show, but Maiden are f**king always there so not the worst thing if they’re out (well… guess that depends on who actually is playing. SOAD again would be pretty tragic).

Rammstein are only playing back to back dates when in the same venue/city but I do wonder if Download could’ve chucked them a shitload of cash to make the exception and play there the night before/after their France show. Probably unlikely, but given Downloads increasingly lack of options and there being no U.K. date on there, I wouldn’t totally count it out that they get them as a EU festival exclusive or some such.

The only thing I think that may hint at Download is the way in the tour video the stamp is faded and doesn't work after Lyon before being replaced. If anyone hasn't seen it's on their Facebook.

I mean technically I suppose they could do Download, Hellfest and Graspop as the adjacent dates are in neighbouring countries. There's also not that many German dates and last ones there are right before Wacken. But I think that's all clutching at straws tbh.

It would have to be with a significantly reduced stage setup, which is possible, just very unlikely I'd say. And if they were minded to squeeze Download in, playing Lyon on the Saturday rather than a Friday or Sunday, making their lives harder doesn't make sense.

Andy himself admitted on a podcast he had booked Pearl Jam twice and they dropped out both times. So they are (or were) definetly on the Download radar.

Oh I know they are, but they obviously really aren't that arsed. Download is probably an 'option' if nothing more interesting comes along and I doubt PJ are going to have that issue yet.

Not going to lie, as much as I hear live they are not what they were and I'd rather it not be at Download, SOAD to see again would be something that would attract me. This is the circle of headline bands Download have though.

Edited my previous post to show some but anyway in the unlikely event they are doing some fests, they are within short range of Download, Greenfield, Graspop, Hellfest and Wacken on adjacent dates. So....if they have a festival set up separate from stadium tour then it's doable.

Also just looking at technical possibilities, they could do Greenfield in Switzerland on the Thursday, Lyon on Saturday and Download Sunday. That would actually add up if they have a festival set up separate from Stadium and there's no UK or Swiss dates.

Digging it to even further they could even do Pink Pop on the 17th or 19th as well as in Netherlands on 18th.

I mean it's probably just a stadium tour but you can see that the dates do actually match up nicely for Greenfield, Download, Graspop, Pinkpop, Hellfest and Wacken.

Edit: actually the more I look at that the more I think it's possible. The amount of dates adjacent to those festivals is actually quite surprising it does have a feeling of being deliberate. Probably wishful thinking.

Nova Rock was at first planned to be 4 days, but at the end of this year edition, they announced it will be 3. So I think both Nova Rock and Download had Rammstein, but it looks like band chose to do another stadium tour

I think more likely that we were told a dud.

Yeah playing Lyon that day. When you say stated do you mean Lee DM'ed you?

Unless the day info was wrong and it is Sunday Download. It is not like A7X are going to close Sunday.

SOAD did Vegas this year too as their only date so it's hard to say with them.

Yeah could be, I mean the Sunday is more logical. It just looks doubtful. As I posted above the current dates would fit with doing several festivals if that's the plan, I would just be very surprised. I think when you add in the Maiden info looking doubtful too cuz of Bruce's solo stuff it looks like duff info but obvs happy to be proved wrong!

I'd be fine with Maiden as only seen once been have no interest in Rammstein. But because they alternate, A7X, Maiden and SOAD wouldn't get me there all weekend. I forget SOAD did it this year too.

Get Scorpions headlining 👌(thoughts!)

Also, who are the feasible bands (to headline) in the mix?  Someone more knowledgeable wanna make a list 😆

Guy on the Download forums called Carnage made this which gives an idea of the general picture

from more to less likely IMO: A7X, SOAD, MCR, Def Leppard, Green Day, Pearl Jam, AC/DC, Muse, Tool, Rage Against The Machine

unlikely / ruled out: Maiden, Rammstein, Metallica, Slipknot, BMTH, Foo Fighters, Guns N'Roses, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Ozzy, KISS

They'd be a solid second stage headliner but they've been sniffy about doing Download in the past.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
