What do we reckon then? 2 weekends still or maybe a 4 day bank holiday one. Back to end of may / june ?

a lot remains to be seen i think! hoping for Pulp or someone not touring much. I could see Massive Attack returning

I wish they would get on with it and announce the dates. I live in London and the rumours are that its going back to May. I cant find any evidence that this is true and not sure I believe the rumours.

APE are one of those festivals who loose tickets sales to me and probably others by taking their time with announcements. The dates are probably already to late with me after commiting to Victorious and Muse for May. So hoping the non-bank holiday dates if there are any appeal to me.

I prefer august because you get more darkness for headliners, but i presume it'll be whichever dates has stronger acts available.

All I'm hoping for is acts that play this to not be exclusives. Really can't be arsed with the likes of Massive Attack/Pulp/LCD only showing up at this corporate mess and nowhere else.

The 4 days worked well last year on its own. But there is a commitment to the community for the midweek free events, so means the site would after stay after or be up before the event.

Shouldn’t be doing anything ever again imo. Really grim reading.

Whilst it looks bad agreed and potentially even illegal (albeit unlikely to result in any jail time), do you really believe that he should never be allowed to work again in his chosen field?

They are due to play the o2 in about ten days. Interesting to see if that happens.

Not sure anything he’s done breaks laws. Unless I’ve missed some reports. Just seems like a messed up guy being a dick. But I suspect bigger promoters will give it a year or so before attaching them to events.

Think some of his actions are sexual assault and at the very least sexual harassment (sending unsolicited pictures). Not as if he'd ever be charged.

I'd (rightly) lose my job if I did the things Win did, as would most of my friends/people I know. I don't understand why self righteous musicians/athletes/celebrities deem themselves above it. Being in Win's position is a privilege he's lost in my eyes, not everyone gets a chance to do what he does, and when you do, you shouldn't be interacting with fans the way he's done.

I’m not condoning his actions one iota. What he allegedly did was absolutely wrong.

I’m interested in where we draw the line in terms of sanctioning him i.e. If he had sent an unsolicited sexual image once, should he be allowed to perform live  again?

There’s a case to be made that even if he had murdered someone, he should be allowed to perform again after serving his prison sentence. The level of punishment should be decided by the law in my opinion and then after the punishment has been served, people should be allowed to be rehabilitated.

Its clear from the bands statement that they dont think hes done anything wrong. So if he isnt looking forgiveness, why should his fanbase do that?

Even one unsolicited image is enough. It's not on. I don't know why you're attributing murder to this (I know you're not defending his actions just a little confused).

If your job has a power dynamic such as being a public facing frontman in a fairly popular band and you're sending unsolicited pictures to fans then it's not on and you probably should not be allowed to continue.

You talk about rehabilitation, there's plenty of other things Win could do that don't have such a power dynamic and also don't put him in the limelight. Just because you serve your time doesn't mean you can go back to the life you once had, your crimes/convictions leave a mark on the you.

My view after this year is that it's likely to go back to the 4 day plan... only days that seemed anywhere near capacity were Field Day and Disclosure - though would've been damaged by the strikes on the first two days of course.

I'll throw my hat in the ring with a potential guess of either Arctic Monkeys or The 1975 to headline one day.

I completely agree with you on this.
Museums still exhibit Caravaggio after all his crimes. Not that Arcade Fire have anywhere near as much talent.

I think he is denying the sexual assault allegations though admitting to his moral (but not illegal) guilt of taking advantage of the power imbalance of his fame to have sexual relations with these women.

Fair enough, respect all your points.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
