2016: Chem Bros, Guetta and Hardwell

2017: Chainsmokers, Major Lazer and DV&LM

and were supposed to have Calvin and Major Lazer in 2020.

All those were when Sziget had the former owners, except 2020, when as far as I remember Major Lazer were not announced as headliners.

Since Sziget has new owners, the festival is more British oriented, so there were more live acts as headliners.

Major Lazer were definitely announced as headliners

A genuine question but why is Sziget now only 6 days when it was 7 in 2019?

does that mean there’s only 2 more headliners to go? Lorde and one more..?

Realistically, to cut down expenses. Also, last year there were less things to do in general, less decorations etc. Also their space is a bit smaller now due to some restrictions, so they can't use space outside the island anymore.

After last year's heavily criticized edition, they are promising improvements, suchs as better sanitation, anti dust solution, returning of Art of Freedom, secret party ...

Yep, we have 4 headliners, so 2 more to come. I feel like headliners are overrated, i'm very much looking into undercards, hoping for better A38(Freedome) programme.

100% agree. In fact, Main Stage is overrated, because sometimes is packed from 16:00 with people who only wants to see the headliner show, and they are screwing the other bands. The vibe at a38, Europe, Party Arena is way better. I go to Sziget for those stages.

I believe I've read somewhere it's because the local government doesn't want the festival do 7 days anymore.

Yup, I think I wrote that. I saw it in the news at the time when they renewed the contract.

Found another interview where they said that in 2019 it seemed like less people wanted to spend 7 days (or 5+2 days) at Sziget, so they decided to do 6 days, but open every stage in all of those days. The organizer also adds that the decision was also based on their discussions with the new mayor of the district, who is obviously pushing for less days so the festival has less effect on the people living nearby. So it's not politics only but has financial reasons as well.

Which artists do we consider most likely to play sziget based on other festivals/tours? Not just headliners undercard as well

I'd say Robin Schulz, he was last year at Balaton Sound and he's at fm4Frequency in Austria a few days after Sziget this year.. so I think he's very likely to be at Sziget this year... and I'm hoping for Blur or The Strokes

    • Its taught me basically to acknowledge to turn up for the bigger acts even 10 minutes before if I wanted to see a band before and just get as central and far forward as possible so the show is at least there. Volbeat wasn't hard to access the front for at all but I didnt stay in for the whole show. They are a bit of a 45/50 minutes hits band for me. They had a crowd don't get me wrong but they are the weakest headliner in the trio all the last 3 times they've appeared. But then the festival are putting on headliners at some other festivals on their late night closing stage. The only thing I probably would have liked to do is see more of Sabaton as I enjoyed them, just the tiredness and adapting to a different overseas festival etc. The start didn't exactly go to plan for me and I knew I was struggling and didn't want to kill my bodies energy completely for the Sunday night.   I saw Palaye Royale, 30 minutes of Sabaton and 20 minutes of Limb Bizkit as I was just going past but I didnt need to stay longer for them. I checked the setlist they were doing and do be honest I stood there while they played a video recording and couldn't be bothered with it. While they looked good in that position on paper I didn't need to see them again to say I had.
