Live gigs - Who you've seen were they good, bad etc.

I love circa waves, a band that is probably defined by their old songs, but I love their newer stuff on the last two albums

Yeah, I went to this on the strength of seeing them play back to back in the John Peel about 10 or so years ago when it was belting down with rain outside, was a superb afternoon! 

Sunday night sadly was not, some things are best left in the past I guess.

Antony Szmierek in Bristol last night, really enjoyed it! Like Mike Skinner with an English degree, singing/rapping over some of the 90's best house loops. I'm gutted I missed him at Glastonbury last year now, he was properly funny in between songs as well, definitely recommend.

That was the Friday 2015, didn't see Peace but Circa Waves were so much fun.  Seem to remember the sun breaking through outside just as they were hitting the big finish to T-Shirt Weather, Loved it. Think that was the year there was a massive puddle down the right of the stage?

Heartworms and She's In Parties At Concorde2 in Brighton last night.  Wasn't sold out but a decent crowd, reckon 400.

 

Didn't know SIP were supporting and haven't listened to any of their stuff (although heard good things on the smaller bands thread) so didn't know what to expect.  Absolutely loved it, great sound and really tight.  

 

Was pretty hyped for Heartworms after all the reviews on here, and didn't disappoint.  Loved the theatrics around the show, part gig and part performance art.  Voice was fantastic.  The look of the band was very much Cure / Siouxsie & The Banshees / goth kids from South Park which made me chuckle a bit, but it all worked.

 

Have to say that I probably enjoyed SIP more than Heartworms, but both thoroughly enjoyable.

Funny enough I was at this too, we must go to the same gigs.

 

Thought he was fantastic, seems like a lovely bloke too. He told me I look like Kevin Parker. Looking forward to the record arriving!

First gig of 2025 - Doves last night at the Boiler Shop in Newcastle. Been a fan of theirs for 10 years now and has been bucket list to see them live. Really brilliant set from them, great energy and passion even without Jimi. Great to see Sea Song and Cycle of Hurt played, 10:03 is a cannonball live and Pounding got the crowd going great! Kingdom of Rust may have brought a tear or two to my eye.

 

Great support from White Flowers too, very reminiscent of Portishead. Would love to see them grow in size over the next few years.

I went along with Mrs Gnom to see Jack Savoretti lady night.

 

He's definitely attracting the Radio 2 crowd these days, I felt relatively young 

 

Anyway, it was decent. Mainly just him on acoustic guitar but later joined by a bloke on piano. I think I prefer him like that than the records with a full band.

 

Support was Delilah Montagu who is probably better known around these parts by being remixed by Fred Again..

Jack White at the Troxy tonight, very enjoyable but always feel he could play more out and out bangers when I go to see him. I guess thats the price you pay for going to see some one who changes their set up. Saw he played Little Bird and Hotel Yoba the night before back to back, love those songs. However, he played Steady As She Goes tonight and they missed out on that, swings and roundabouts.

Yes was there also, my highlights were Pretty good looking (for a girl) followed by Hello operator. Also like ‘that’s how I’m feeling’. Agree with what you said, it was good, but not my favourite time I have seen him.

Saw Lenny Kravitz on Friday night and he absolutely smashed it.
