Nice to see they are consistently wrong.

And this isn't exactly a one off launch rush thing - they want tens, maybe hundreds of thousands to use this per day on some days And how do they expect the next phase to work when they want it for all hospitality when cases go up in winter if it can't deal with this in the daytime of the first day, before gigs and clubs have even opened? Actually, how do they even expect it to work tonight... Edited October 1, 2021 by efcfanwirral

My nan (88) caught covid sometime last week or the week before and tested positive on Wednesday. Went to hospital on Friday (I think she was more frightened than actually ill and wanted reassurance). They gave her a bit of oxygen, took all the vitals and decided she was fine and sent her home. She is much better today. It would of been a totally different outcome if it wasn't for the vaccine no doubt. Fucking love science! Glad she's doing OK now This shows the difference in the models for hospitalisations

There is a very unique psyche in a cohort of people in Singapore use to being mollycoddled by the government along with a government who like to keep the people in fear (eg. Mandatory bomb shelters in new apartments). The hospital system is being overwhelmed by healthy young people turning up at at time where only 30 people are in ICU. 82% vaccinated but groups of 2 only at F&B, no background noise or things on TV at Pubs, 10:30pm closing. It's absolutely insane

DeanoL
How are people finding gigs? We've started going to stuff again and while it's nice to feel back to normal, we're clearly a long way off. Saw one comic at a rescheduled "sold out" gig where about 15% of the audience were missing - "I guess all the empty seats are either people who have forgotten they booked this or died". Saw another comic in a room he'd previously sold out pre-pandemic that was only 1/4 full. It's a concern, to be honest. I'm not sure if it's reluctance by people to go out, or just that there's so much stuff on now (with theatres trying to fit a year's worth of shows into 4 months) that people are having to be more picky. It's not sustainable though.
lost
Went to my first festival two weeks ago and it was quieter than previous years though I believe running at a reduced capacity. I was though surprised by the age range probably 80% 35 - 55 and that's what I'm seeing in the pubs where the youngsters and oldies seemed to be missing. I'm also concerned about pubs, the minute the nice weather has gone and people can't sit outside they seem absolutely dead. It could be a long winter for the hospitality industry, at least outside the major metropolitan cities.

It's not sustainable though. Most the gigs i go to have been pretty full tbh. Went to some comedy last night ( in a pub venue admittedly) which was rammed. . Most the gigs ive been too at the windmill and lexington have been rammed. Queues outside cinemas for bond screenings in London for the weekend and sold out screenings everywhere. London film festival tickets seem to be selling briskly Ash at the roundhouse was emptier, but then that may not have had anything to do with Covid! Play wise, the feel good shows and shows with celebrities are selling out. Other stuff struggling a bit more, but i think that will take a while to get back to normal. I think there is an element of pickiness to some things. As things go on and things stay the same as it is now, more people will start going out I think medium size stuff or stuff which needs a bit more of 'ill give it a go' are not doing so well. But hyped smaller stuff and feel good popular stuff is up to the previous levels. Edited October 5, 2021 by zahidf

lost
Where the younger people are concerned it may not be fear. I wouldn't be surprised if many came out of lockdown being trapped in with their parents desperate to get their own place. Aside from it being very difficult being stuck in your childhood bedroom in your early 20's they've probably worked out that if there are further restrictions this winter a single person household can have someone stay over via the support bubble rules. Obviously then if you have rent and bills to pay it leaves less money for going out and socialising.
