Are you old? Or do you just not listen to Grime / UK hip hop.

I’m 24 and I haven’t heard half the songs in the list.

For me it’s due to where I source new music.

I get the majority of my recommendations from this site or from listening to 6 Music.

So from a hip hop perspective I listen to RTJ, Kendrick, Little Simz, slowthai etc

Most of the names on that list pass me by because I don’t listen to radio 1.

A rich vein I've discovered is the following bands I like and their record labels on Twitter. Especially for the indies and smaller bands there's a lot of cross-promotion of label mates and friends, so it can be a decent rabbit hole to go down.

That would be my selection based on what I think/who I actually know.

I have know interest in British Group. If I know the act well there is nothing to turn my mind.

As for single, seeing Watermelon Sugar pop up. In my view it's completely awful and terrible.

I wouldn't know who Joel Corry is if he came up to me and shouted "I'm Joel Corry" a hundred times and produced two separate forms of verification of his identity

I have heart on at work all day through louder speaker that's how I know. And it's fresher and currently more catchy and appealing than the rest but that's me.

The physique is some impressive work.

The facial expression is hauntingly creepy.

Wtf one of the dudes from Geordie Shore has a legit music career with actual hits and might win a Brit!? Mental.

Impressive physique, even more impressive he’s made a career for himself in the music industry.

His tunes are shocking though.

Really really shit.

I just put on his biggest song and I unfortunately know it all too well as it’s constantly coming on the radio at work and I hate it with a passion.

Shit indeed!

Didn't even realise it was him lol. But I don't really care who makes a tune if I like it. It's just catchy. Tbh Physical would have been my choice but it's gone now.

Sign of the times was good. But you are entitled to your opinion.

On the original point from Mattymooz though, the singles list is leaving me colder than a Pink Floyd reunion.

A couple of decent ones on the album list, but it really all feels a bit....meh.

Seems strange considering how stacked a lot of us felt 2020 was with good stuff. Clearly just a lot of it was stuff flying under the mainstream radar.

I feel like they always do pretty poorly on the singles, but agreed that this year seems particularly bad - not sure why they have decided to nominate so much of the generic Capital edm-pop trash....

Albums list is phenomenal though imo, only real weak one is Celeste for me (would have preferred Lianne La Havas, Charli XCX or Laura Marling personally)

Two beers in already arguing with the wife about which male solo artists will be famous in 40 years time.

my criteria been around successfully for 20 years and/or created/redefined a genre. Nirvana grunge, spice girls girl power pop.

ed Sheeran is boarder line. I’m saying nah he’s being forgotten….
