All things being equal maybe. But after a badly mismanaged pandemic, with Brexit going south and with a relatively friendly press you’d probably want Starmer to be performing better really. Theres a good case for Starmer being the worst politician of all time. Maybe the worst human being of all time? Idk

Either way considering the colossal failure that was Labour at the 2019 GE, if the next election wipes out the Tory majority then yes that is progress quite clearly.

I’m sure you know that a Labour majority given the current make up of the Commons isn’t realistically possible, it would take the biggest shift in history. Considering we have a media that covers up the government’s failings and a system geared up to favour the Tories that just isn’t going to happen.

Govt forgiven for pandemic, especially with success of vaccines, and brexit has been a great success. Or we need now is war with France.

Jeez louise. Lib dems, one of life’s great mysteries!

For me the mystery is why isn't there more of us. Liberal philosophy is recognising power corrupts & putting in place safeguards to stop it being abused, a belief that everyone is equal  & that a diverse society is a healthy one & that you should be allowed to live your life however you wish as long as it doesn't impinge on anyone elses rights.

We've always campaigned for equality whether its gay rights, woman's rights, campaigning against racism or trans rights. We've always campaigned for a more liberal drug policy such as legalising weed, providing people with safe spaces for drug taking & testing to allow people to actually know the drugs they've been sold are safe.

Our constitution starts "The Liberal Democrats exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity."

What other party cares about whether people are enslaved by conformity?

I think Lib Dems should be the natural party of efestivalers & Glasto goers, but clearly that's not the case.

Anyhow I'll get off my high horse now 😂

Its okay to admit you were wrong about Starmer. We’ve all been there mate. I couldn’t believe it when Stuart Hall was a nonce. Thought he was great on 5live doing the footie reports, one of life’s great eccentrics. So I know what you’re going through.

Just not very fashionable at moment. Got all mixed up with neo-liberaljsm and laissez faire liberalism etc. Right thinks liberals are weak and wokey, left thinks liberals are the real enemy and blocking the path to a socialist utopia.

Rayner getting in a bit if trouble for that scum comment. I mean, they are scum, but if going to win over voters who voted Tory in the past, calling them scum might not be best way about it.

Her comment in full -

'We cannot get any worse than a bunch of scum, homophobic, racist, mysoginistic, absolute pile …of banana republic…Etonian…piece of scum…and I held back a little…that I have ever seen in my life'.

I see she's backtracking already but to any ex Labour voters who voted Conservative, that language is hardly going to entice them back. Maybe she'd had a few drinks.
