Would be up for the manics ngl, one of my favourite bands

Yes please.

(Also loved The Darkness and Franz back in the day so this would be a great festival for me personally)

This isn’t America boss, riots are a bit far

Lol. England has it's fair share of things. We were a disgrace as a nation.

There hasn’t been riots though.

Manchester, London and Birmingham rioted over BLM I believe during a lockdown down/maybe tiered system? Police being charged on the streets? It was all over the news!

Whatever reason it was for it wasn't allowed for them to be there.

Would hardly of classed them as riots, disturbances maybe?  Don't let the door hit you on the way out as you think we are such a disgrace of a country

Riots they were not. They were largely peaceful protests. You’re spouting pure garbage here.

I do yes. But I'm a realist. British people cause just a much if not more trouble with various things than others things. You only have to look at when we travel overseas for footballing events, we're a shambles.

I won't let it hit but it might knock some sense into you if it does.

Peaceful protests. Absolute bollocks. More riots I believe the headlines were.

So many blinkered views all based on the views of bringing back music and events and the like before it's a wise time to.

Ahhh fair play mate, if that's what the headlines were saying then there must have been riots!

Right. I guess Jeremy Corbyn really must live in a bin then, if that’s what the headlines and front pages say.

You’re deluded brother. Peaceful marches and protests is all they were. Even bringing the Coulston statue down in Bristol wasn’t necessarily violent. the violence came from the people fighting back, who remarkably sound a lot like you

Wonder what is the latest point they can possibly leave it before they just run out of time to build the thing up.

I think it only takes around 3-4 weeks to build the site so plenty of time for that. It probably depends more on money commitments than the build.

a ray of positivity.

Assuming everyone has been vax’d then if it can’t go ahead. Basically nothing can...ever again

Its not just about the people going...its about the artists coming in and varying strains of the virus. They could for eg ban flight from the states or expect people to quarantine.

You have acts coming in from around the world. They will need alot more then 4 weeks notice.

Fingers crossed, the govt will say when festivals can restart on Monday and R/L planning can proceed with confidence.

My guess is that they'll lose a number of international acts and will fill the gaps with UK acts - which shouldn't be difficult in the circumstances.

Everything swings on what Spaffer says on Monday.

If it goes ahead then artists will without doubt cancel and British artists bumped up. If artists do drop and the line up changes dramatically then you could have an issue with people wanting refunds.

I just dont think it happens. They are talking about pubs opening normally with social distancing in September...they arent going to allow a festival to go ahead before that.

if it goes ahead then no matter what the line-up I can only see a sell-out.

The issue as I see it is that all scenarios have to be at least trialled before the end of the summer, otherwise they keep restrictions until next summer (because of the risk of a winter wave).

The govt has already indicated (leaked) that big crowds for sports will be trialled outdoors in early summer, and that nightclubs are likely to be allowed to open with mass-testing.

I'd say within the boundaries of those, festivals are able to fit (subject to satisfactory trials) - and particularly R/L which has been the lead voice in pushing for testing for events. You never know, R/L might even be the trial event.
