https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/hacks/s01 - Jean Smart is simply brilliant.

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/dark_winds/s01 - cracking crime thriller set in the Navajo territories

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/star_wars_ahsoka/s01 - tbh some of the aspects about the different series they have and how the histories overlap (or not) I let just wash over me and take them at face value and in that capacity I enjoyed it, although as with any TV show, every now and again one of the characters does something (to create the drama in the story arc) and you think "why did you do that you daft idiot?"

Gone Fishing - I was very behind the curve with it, didn't really got drawn in when it was first on, but did ever see the odd episode and enjoyed.  This year I streamed the lot and found it a nice thing to pop on at the end of a night occasionally - some beautiful scenery and wildlife, warm camaraderie and usually a few belly laughs each episode too.

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/santa_clarita_diet/s01 - it's got such a light tone that when it kicks in it can take you by surprise.

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/the_muppets_mayhem/s01 - The Electric Mayhem themselves are brilliant and do some great tunes each episode, plus it has some great cameos but it's a shame that they made the recurring human characters so inoffensive as to be a bit bland.

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/how_to_with_john_wilson/s01 - If I search (which I have to do to make sure I'm not repeating!), apparently @kalifire watched this about a year and a half ago.  I'm only a couple of episodes in, but it's ... indescribable.

Just finished the first episode of The Curse, the new Nathan Fielder show.

As weird, awkward, and compelling as you’d expect from Nathan. I love the biting satire running through the heart of it, and I didn’t struggle with Nathan in acting mode, I guess because he always is to some degree.

Dire reviews coming out for the final season of The Crown.

From the Guardian:

Quote

after her death, Ghost Diana appears to Prince Charles and then to the Queen as a kind of ministering angel, illuminating for them the way and the light and the best way of tending to the mood of the people, to whose every individual heart she has always had a direct hotline. She thanks Charles “for being so raw, broken and handsome” in the hospital when he saw her body. “I’ll take that with me,” she adds.

Hahahaha, f**king hell. It sounds so bad I almost want to watch it.

Currently, and it’s an old one, but watching the newest series of Twin Peaks.

i watched the first 2 series a few months ago, and didn’t really get the new ones, but came back coz I found a load of excellent reviews on them.

i loved the first 2 series because of just how quaint it felt despite the overarching storyline and how godamn scary Bob is, but this new series feels really really different.

currently on the episode where the nine inch nails do a song, which was not a welcome surprise

I have done a lot of Twin Peaks, the series, the film, the books etc. Still haven't got a clue.

Anyone see Boat Story, new BBC drama? Great cast, interesting plot, violent and lots of dark humour.

Brilliant cast. I quite like it but not enjoying it as much as I thought I would. It's basically a British Coen brothers. But like, one of the OK Coen brothers films, not a great one. One of the weaker Fargo seasons maybe

Just finished season one of The Exorcist.

Kinda feel Gina Davis and the work she’s had done to her face which prohibits her from pulling any kind of expression feels a bit miscast. But otherwise, it was enough to keep my attention. Not remotely scary but twisty enough to maintain interest.

Just watched season 3 of Astrid, think uk telly is quite far behind so had to seek it  out https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11950864/

Also watched Season 2 of dark winds, brilliant and beautiful like the first one https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/dark_winds

I've been to the mittens and they're very prominently featured.

I'm a bit behind, only on S2 but brilliant and often very darkly funny too https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/slow_horses

New episodes every Tuesday until Christmas.  Serial killers and hackers murder mystery https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/a_murder_at_the_end_of_the_world

This one's a freebie on uktv play, passed me by twenty years ago.  It holds up pretty well, some (but not all) of his cases gentle compared to modern shows, but Davison is the decent copper diligently doing a good job, being disparaged sometimes by less effective colleagues but real delight is that his pal is Sean Hughes https://uktvplay.co.uk/shows/the-last-detective/watch-online

Very different to all the above and I only picked up on it in S2, but great for showing how things we depend on every day are made or work - usually literally disassembling to show, plus referencing back to the breakthroughs that made it possible https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001f1tg

Absolutely incredible to behold https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2023/nov/03/netflix-blue-eye-samurai-review-epic-tale-of-bloody-revenge-is-tremendous-fun
