Yep that’s why I said one of the jabs ... there’s very little chance of them getting both before xmas ... although some might be lucky ...

I completely agree, I walked down my local high street a few days ago and you'd never know there was a lockdown, people everywhere, loads of places open doing takeaway (Costa, McDonals, Greggs etc) and quite a few shops Superdrug, Poundland etc. open. I really don't see this lockdown having any massive impact on case numbers, just more negative impact on the economy from hospitality being shut, so the worst of both worlds really!

I guess the hope is that it’s stronger than tier 3 which looks like it has some impact ... but my work was heaving with customers today ... with no queueing system and I was told today we have decided that next week we are having a Black Friday event ... despite not having one for the past 2 years ... why not reintroduce it In the middle of a pandemic ... everyone knows the Black Friday nightmare scenes from previously  and with electrical shops shut it’s not gonna be fun

It's all just a big balancing act until we get vaccine rollout underway.  Retailers suffering from the economic effects of Covid are desperate to make some sales, primarily to keep the business alive and secondly to keep people in jobs, but how do they do it without packing out shops and people risking their health, lives even, not just of the shoppers but also the poor staff like yourself?  I was also hoping that the usual Christmas advertising would be toned down a little given the situation, but no, it's not even middle of November and the TV is already full of gluttonous ads featuring tables heaving with mountains of food and electronic retailers insisting Auntie must have a £700 TV for Christmas or you're clearly a miser.  There's a f*cking global pandemic on for Chris sake!  Tens of thousands of people have lost jobs, livelihoods, relatives and friends, and the last thing they want to do, or are able to do, is spend £65 on a sodding 3-bird roast from M&S that'll be in the bin by the end of Boxing Day!  Just for once how about a bit of f*cking empathy and dignity for people who are really struggling this year?

yeah, this lockdown nothing like last time. Last time everyone had The Fear. Now, it's just hey it only affects the elderly, and only spreads when inside when not wearing a mask...so...I'm going shopping and to meet some friends thankyou very much.

Whether it's Tier 3 or the additional measures from the "lockdown" that's caused these numbers to drop, it seems very clear to me that the effect on the case numbers is significant in Greater Manchester.

This is making me feel hopefully as been such a long time since we've seen green arrows like this in Manchester, these obviously the impact of tier 3 the lockdown ones should start to reflect from back end of next week

I do hope they go down enough to warrant Tier 2 but I doubt the Government will let us given we fought them over Tier 3 support (yes I think they are that petty)

Tier 2 is bullshit, it didn't get R under 1. Until you can get an appointment for urgent elective surgery in a Manchester hospital, I'm in team tier 3.

That's fair enough but I'm thinking of all the hospitality places that will end up closing for good due to being under flip flop restrictions since 31st July  

Just to be clear apart from food shopping I've been nowhere, not met anyone since 13th March, not see my North East based family since early Jan and when I did work (back on furlough again unfortunately) I did WFH.... so I'm not one of these folk shouting for their freedom I'm just concerned how much this is going to f**k Manchester up, it will take years to recover from this

The lack of support given to them under tier 2 was awful. The only answer I can think of is more financial support from the government. The cases are too high in Manchester and don't get lower under tier 2. It's an awful until the vaccine is rolled out.

Yeah but they changed and improved the support under tier 2 once London was affected, agree it was shit when it was just the North being affected and really hit home how unequal support has been towards the North  

Also, they won't clarify the entry/exit triggers between each tier they just keep moving the goalposts based on who is affected - remember these were the numbers that put us into tier 2 in July, but London was over 100 per 100k when they were put into it

I'll be ok, but the point is, I was put down on the top priority urgent list a couple of weeks ago, but they had no idea when I'd be seen. The hospitals are full. If Manchester goes into tier 3 in December, that's not spite, it's necessity.

And I'm not saying this primarily because I'm worried about myself(although I am), it's what my experience suggests about the hospital capacity that's particularly alarming.

Lowering cases numbers take a while to filter through to lowering hospital occupancy. More than a couple of weeks.

Well it's come through outpatients rather than A+E. I'm not sure if it is technically elective or not.  I guess it is, because antibiotics keep it under control, not that they're sustainable.
