Are you ok? You’ve gone for a couple of people in this thread in the last week, I’m concerned you aren’t doing well. If things are getting too much take a step back.

😂

I called out a guy for moaning about people being able to travel abroad while he travelled abroad and I get asked if I'm ok and have people crying about it.

I also notice that when steviewevie called me a prick no one rushed to pull him up on it and say he\s ruining the pleasant welcoming atmosphere here 🤔 strange isn't it.

He felt so concerned about the trip that he chose to go on and now he says he’s concerned about the open border policy the gov has? Sorry that is ridiculous and unrealistic.

I’ve not even called out the guy for choosing to go abroad it’s the hypocrisy it’s followed with which is infuriating.

You've made your point.

I guess we all know @steviewevie sense of humour ... well I presumed it to be that anyway ...

I couldn't care less what the bizarre clique on here think of me.. least of all you lol.

I called out some shameless hypocrisy and seem to have upset a lot of people with it. I am content with the fact that I am obviously in the right and clearly everyone agrees the guy is a hypocrite.

People seem to forget how relaxed things got in the summer and that was with no protection for anybody. As soon as a certain percentage are vaccinated, we’re not going to be under conditions that are actually the same or stricter than the summer are we?

Well the potential difference is this variant that spreads more easily. If it really does just spread from person to person while being in say, the same pub as them, then something will have to give.

Because otherwise in the short term your chance of getting the virus when going out will tend towards 100% and I don’t think people will accept that.

I mean if they would, what the fuck have we been doing the past 9 months? Isolate the vulnerable and old for a few weeks and we never needed a vaccine, just set up centres where we infect all the young and healthy with the virus deliberately and get herd immunity.

Not saying the government won’t just give up on rules once the vulnerable are vaccinated but damn, it will have made this a huge waste of time and money. The time for all the young and healthy to go out and catch it was in bloody April, then isolate for two weeks. Not when they’re a month away from getting a vaccine.

My main worry is keeping our open border strategy, it allows a potential mutation to come in from another country which our vaccines cannot fight.

But isn’t any mutation as likely to happen here as anywhere else?

I was just waiting for you to show up ...

How would you suggest I more politely bring up the fact the guy is moaning about people being allowed to fly in and out the country while he himself is flying to Europe? There’s no delicate way to say it - the guys a hypocrite plain and simple.

Or y’know, he changed his mind as he found out more. Like we all have. I’d imagine there’s no one here who hasn’t said something at some point between March and now in their posting history that, with the benefit of hindsight, looks really stupid. Like when half the people here were going to pubs. Or when we said masks wouldn’t help because the scientists were saying masks wouldn’t help. Or when some people were confidently predicting Glastonbury 2020 would still happen.

Can I just add my own voice to others on here who have asked that we just try to be nice to each other on here? Please?
I haven’t posted much, I find it hard, as I’m sure others do, to spend a lot of time thinking about, and discussing Glastonbury when it was cancelled, and unclear if 2021 will go ahead. These are very difficult times for all, to a greater or lesser degree. Many are suffering. I regularly read this forum though, and most of the time find it uplifting and refreshing. However a couple of times recently, it’s not lived up to the Glastonbury spirit we all profess to love, and becomes upsetting one off putting.

So please, try to express opinions in a non confrontational fashion, and be nice to each other. Pretend you’re on the farm, which hopefully, we all will be soon. Have a great 2021 everyone, it’s got to be better than 2020! xx

No, he's said repeatedly on here for almost a year about how worried he is about it and that never let up on the negative posts here even when he was still flying abroad at the time. It doesn't add up.

Okay well too late now, so maybe everyone can just move on?

You did this whole thing with Jamie a few weeks back, so not sure why you felt the need to rake it all up again?

Because he brought up how open borders during this were a terrible thing? He brought it up, not me.

Absolutely agree ... was trying to make this point earlier ... you have expressed it much better though 🙂

All I said was 'did you not fly to Germany a few months ago?'

Happy for feedback on how I can make that less confrontational.

Most of the confrontation has actually come from some of the more sensitive regulars on here.

Because you’re treating the thread as an argument and not a discussion, like most the rest of us are. Congrats, you pointed out someone is a hypocrite (or maybe changed their mind). You get one internet debate point. You can trade in 100 for a pencil sharpener I guess?

But it doesn’t add anything to the discussion does it? No-one has learned anything. No-one had thought about COVID differently based on your post. You just got one up on someone. And that’s not really what this thread is about.

You’re trying to have a fight. This is a dance.

Over a long enough timeline then yes, of course your chance of getting it will be 100%, assuming the virus never goes away and you never get vaccinated.

If you mean on a one off visit to a pub? Not anywhere near close.

Cases are considered at a high level (Tier 4 restrictions) at around about 400 in 100,000. Let’s be generous and double that to allow for the untested cases. So even now with cases at what are deemed high very high levels about 1% of the population have it right now, how could your chances of getting it be anywhere near 100%

Genuine question: why do you come to this thread when everyone who posts in it just seems to wind you up? I don't get it.

As has been said, you’ve made this point multiple times now. Move on.

FYI the issue is that you go for people quite regularly including Jamie which is why people are commenting. Seriously take a look at your posting history and you’ll see the majority of your post are you going for someone. Please just be nicer, stop going at people all the time and move on.

    • Well he is on a rape charge, don't see that one as controversial.    Although Hakimi is in Morocco squad.
    • Electric Callboy just said they'll be touring here next year. I'm not sure there's a poster for it though. I'll look when I'm near some next.      He said we'll see you at Download at a gig before any of the band. Presumably he was trolling. They're in Austria at the moment and Germany tomorrow with a week's break and more shows in Germany. Whilst not impossible to come back here and then go over there again, it seems unlikely.
    • Thomas Partey, knocked back by Canadian immigration now.
    • I'm sure someone can update you on the clashfinder, and it will be pretty accurate by the time the festival comes around. It's a large flat-ish arena with main stage in the open air, no best side I'd say. Leadmill (3rd stage medium tent) is at the back of the main arena, T'Other (2nd stage big tent) 5 min walk round the corner. At full capacity walking around can take a bit more time though. I noticed that The Enemy are scheduled to not fully overlap with Wolf Alice, so you could catch part of their set too.   You can walk around anywhere with a beer, with most bars the usual mass market stuff, but one nice craft ale tent, back of the arena near the Leadmill stage. A main meal will set you back £10-15, but cheaper snacks also available. Expect a pint to be £7-8. Possibly a bit more this year as prices everywhere are increasing.   It's fairly easy to get to from the town centre using the tram, although can be busy at peak times / very busy at curfew. If you like a walk, it's approx 40 mins to Kelham Island (lots of indy venues) and probably an hour to the city, or catch an Uber. There will be loads of 'fringe' music events on around the city right through the weekend. Most are free. Have a wonderful trip, enjoy the festival, and your stay in our city!
    • I think people on a place like this, that clearly value live music more than most, don't. I'd rather an academy than an arena every day. But I could see a few people that care about "the gram" than the actual music wanting an arena experience even if it's a mid sized band.
