My thoughts are that, even if it stops a few people doing it, the new messaging should simply be "nobody should spend Christmas Day alone" (which support bubbles means would be allowed anyway but not everyone realises that it turns out). From there yes it's down to personal responsibility but it at least gives some kind of indication that it's a serious situation

You have said something like “we need to show leadership and ban household mixing like other European countries”

Where did I say that? Please can you point out where I said that as otherwise you talking nonsense. It’s weird for comments that you perceive to be bullshit you can’t actually point a specific one out.

I know someone who works at PHE and this new strain thing is very much real and is very much worrying them.

and he has just told me that christmas bubbles are to be cancelled in London, and there will be a nationwide plea to not visit london and all commuting to stop. And then a big new year lockdown.

I sometimes can’t tell if you are being serious 😂

I think this variant thing is just a fear/distraction technique. Easy for them to blame a variant for not putting the right measures in place.

I would normally think that was conspiracy theory type stuff, but I've got to agree. The timing does feel super convenient. Not saying there isn't a new strain, but there have been many, haven't there?

Anyone know what time the presser is?

It hasn’t been said yet.

Chris Whitty has let the WHO know about this new strain so maybe it is true?

Yeah are you serious now or...? Starting to think we should cancel the in-laws visiting, although not really my call.

As I say I believe there is a new strain. But there have been before haven't there? Not saying it's bollocks, but does seem to be being used to cover the government's tracks a bit.

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
