😔

I've never actually seen a Fatboy Slim set (only seen him DJ) so would be well up for that.

Throw in the potential for a Glade or maybe even Sonic (think GA and Orbital both rumoured for there) headliner and we are go.

Man I can't wait for next year!

That was a terrible booking.

On paper yeah it's a very unimaginative booking, but in practice it'd be immensely popular. Any time that guy plays any kind of set on the farm, whether it be announced or secret, the place is rammed and popping off. Guess we'll never know if he was a late stand in for somebody else or gifted the slot as a thanks for always being there, but it'd certainly wouldn't be an unpopular or empty fielded booking.

Fatboy strikes me as someone who was booked for the slot for a specific reason and not just because they didn't have other options. Feels like they specifically want him in that slot, so I'm not sure I see that changing to be honest.

Can't say I've ever really checked out any of his live sets/videos etc, but the prospect of seeing him live (especially as my Glastonbury Friday night headliner) doesn't excite me in the slightest, and I'm a huge Radiohead fan.

I recommend it. His set at DTRH was easily the best concert I’ve seen in the whole of 2019. And I’ve been to 4 fests a a lot of concerts. His current live setup is a thriumph. YT vids don’t do it justice.

Sonic shared a Spotify playlist for their Friday lineup and it looks very strong.

Oh I don't doubt it would have been popular with some but it's the laziest booking ever when he plays the festival every year anyway.  Seemed such a waste of a slot.

Definitely more my vibe music-wise and I've darkened the door a few times - but does even in there get going until the main stages are starting to close?

Having a look at old lineups and they've had the likes of Midland and Norman Jay on at headliner times, I'd think they'd be decent enough to draw a crowd but I've never been at that time myself.

I think there's a number of potential other stage headliners around next year that weren't this year, Lorde and Paramore spring to mind.

Lorde may be on the cards but can easily see her just waiting it out until 2022. Paramore aren't in the equation at all though, and by all accounts are a festival headliner in their own right these days so probably won't ever do Glastonbury.

This forum loves to shit on Silver Hayes but there's some great stuff in those lineups.

It's usually not the lineups that's the problem - it's the sound often being shite, the tents being too rammed for the good stuff, and a lot of the people there unfortunately being the more dickheady side of the festival.

Feeling good about it all today. We're under the t-minus one year range and we can properly discuss the headliners now. We're in the zone where we might start getting rumours coming through and acts will be announcing more rescheduled tours.

I really enjoyed the weekend coverage and looking back at the past, but getting over the 2020 hump feels good and we can be stoked about next year.

Cause headlining Reading in 2014 means they could never play Glastonbury at all apparently. They won’t even be back to doing anything for maybe 3 years. Maybe we should just consider that theyve never been asked so it might not even be about where they would end up. Emily could book Hayley Williams on her own and then itll kinda get the itch for the whole band to go play eventually if we’re talking next year.

I don’t think it was that at all but Paramore don’t seem to be a thing anymore and because they headlined Reading 6 + years ago it doesn’t mean they can headline Glastonbury.

Theyve done well at R&L because that is their crowd. The same way Enter Shikari can play big slots at R&L.

Some bands have bigger followings at some festivals than others. Paramore never played big slots anywhere else!

Well they've not played Glastonbury in their entire career as they've risen up lineups, so why now? Pop/punk isn't really a genre Glastonbury goes near 'cause Reading/Leeds have more than got that covered, and Paramore would demand a big slot these days which I doubt Glastonbury would give them. Next time they're touring it's almost a guarantee that they'll just end up back headlining Reading and Leeds again rather than taking lower slots at Glastonbury.

    • If you had to come through the fence after coming down the hill if you weren’t already down the hill then you were probably in general. From there the blocks of toilets, showers and water points aren't far at all and to your right is aldi. I know of the lake but apparently it fills up super quick and is noisy and loads of bugs....I got bitten as it was lol. But I joined a solo camp WhatsApp group so followed them.

    • They are going to have Blink 182 for sure, early June upto around Werchter weekend I'd say for them. Two of Sweden Rock,  Greenfield and RFP are going to miss out.
    • I've come across a few this weekend saying Deftones aren't big enough for Download.   I would recommend b&b hotel hbf the night before....cheap, comfortable and very decent. Within 10 minutes from the station and a tram stop outside to jump on...all travel is free during the festival time as well with a kombi. Lidl is very good and cheap I can't lie....€6 for a chair with carey handle, €20 with a bag too...you can work that out yourself.   If you camp, get up at 5am and go to the queue....literally don't question it as now I know.     The travel wise part is easy when you get the hang of it and I've never had an easier exit from a festival today tbh. We were camped in the turn left section but past the registration and to get water you have to come right out.   Opening up an exit through he camp at least by Friday morning when everyobe is there would be much better but you csnt walk through general if you're green and sonon.   I think the issue for me probably too is I have never taken like a mutliple litre water too, I've always done a 6 pack water from like poundland lol but you definitely need it. I had one shower that was cold lol   Talking of getting into the front, Volbeat was the only easy one, for Maiden and especially Linkin Park if you weren't in the queue for it by at least the last quarter ot Architects you had no hope....it was shocking. I do like orbit to sit down. I had to decide to sack off Within Temptation too or no chance.   Second stage biggest gripe is the faff of walking all the way round when VIP or whatever it is literally get access to each bit. I did read tbh before going people though RIP/Ring was turning too much the wrong way.   Also as a side note, caught some of Limp Bizkit last night too and they are not headliner but any distance at all. Yes they pull a crowd...they would do with LP finished but on the grand scale its a super weak booking. Stop, start for video recordings all the way through a headline set?, 1hr 15 minutes and you can't play for that time. I'm so glad they were not chosen to headline main.   On another thing, if RIP played it right they'll get GC and Avril to sub/second stage headline on the Blink day.   Toilets and cleanliness is a big plus I will say that.
