Whoever United appointed, would it be realistic to expect them to finish anywhere other than 6th? So in a way did it matter at all who they hired for the rest of the season?

It could impact on players wanting to stay/leave in January. Also Man Utd are still in the champions league and while very unlikely they will win it, knockout football can on occasion result in unlikely winners.

Yeah I suppose I already counted them out of that but anything could happen. Only point I was making is theres not much of an expectaton for Ole now is there? Just to bring some excitement to the club it'd take some major issues to fall out the top 6 and a super human feat to get up to 4th so seems like a sensible bet to go with a club hero?

rumours of pogba wanting out too. It would be embarrassing for him to tell Utd to fuck off twice.

De Gea more important. Martial too.

There was an exodus with Moyes with a few of the players hinting they may not have agreed to leave has Moyes been sacked earlier. Granted a few of them were at the age to move on anyway but for players like Vidic, Rio, Evra it was a season too early. Certainly not great for all of them to leave at the same time. Defo something to avoid again.

Not to my knowledge. Nor has a club announced an interim manager for 48 hours, then an interim manager until the end of the season and then a permanent manager, all in the same statement.

Happy enough with Ole. Should get the team trying at least and playing attacking football.

This Pogba post thing seems to have blown up out of proportion.

Surprised it's allowed to be honest.

Arnie wanted out by all accounts.

Yes I know - but why? Anything to do with his relationship with Hughes? Probably not, you’d suspect more to do with Arnoutovic (and his brother) but I don’t know. From interviews it appears as though Hughes hasn’t lost any of his ‘spark’...

My guess would be that someone pointed out to him that he could make huge wads of cash elsewhere.

I think the recent real Madrid champions league winners have been relatively average. There have been plenty of mediocre champions league winners in the past and there will in the future.

The trouble with Ole is if they over perform there could be pressure to give him the job. It may work, but he could be the next Craig Shakespeare or Di Matteo.

Has anyone seen the Sunderland documentary on Netflix.  As with most of these documentaries it is much more interesting watching a club where everything is going wrong, as opposed to one winning all the time!

Watching Sunderland go wrong is always fun. I might give it a whirl.

Yeah I'm looking forward to giving this a go. Heard good things.
