Just thought I'd check the webcam to see how the site was doing, and left somewhat saddened by the amount of tents left. 

I know it's been incredibly muddy this year, and tents may not be in the best condition, but if you really don't want it that bad, just black bag it and get it binned? It doesn't even take 5 minutes.. 

That said, I have heard plans to send any left tents in a suitable condition to refugee's? Can anyone clarify this?

There is going to be a collection out to Calais for some stuff but much better that it wasn't left in the first place obvs.

I thought the site was very clean this year, i don't know if that was people not dropping stuff on the floor as much or litter pickers doing a grand job. Maybe a bit of both.

A lady who was sat at the communal campfire bit in South Park who appeared to be a worker was shouting out that packed up tents could be used for refugees in Calais but not sure of the details.

Yes think the idea is that you pack it and hand it in.

Saw something yesterday about 500,000 bags of rubbish. At about 3 per person that sounds like a lot.

Must agree with this there was definitely less litter, or seemed to be, unless is was just being trampled into the mud..

I did wonder that but it just generally seemed like it was just cleaner. Maybe the cup deposit helped out more than i thought it would.

Yeah this news report mentions the 500,000 and says a lot of tents have been left

Bushy Ground was still about 50% full of tents when I left at 1pm yesterday.  The litter wasn't too bad though.  Walking through Rivermead on the way to the bus, there were far fewer tents left behind, but it was in a right state litter-wise.

Maybe everyone left their litter inside their tents in Bushy Ground.

Camp sites this year looked better to me but I am sure the mud masked the amount of litter at the main stages. I reckon when they plough it through they will be shocked at what they find under all that mud.

Come back at 6am from the SE corner on the Sunday morning, generally made me upset that state the pyramid field was left in from the night before. Mainly made up of blankets and chairs rather than tin cans and bottles.

There was a team of volunteers called Worthy Warriors which was sorted out just before the festival. A group of ticket holders who agreed to volunteer while there and give out bin bags/collect litter. 

I was one and had success in litter picking but people weren't that interested when I tried to talk them into cleaning their camp site up  

Maybe the Warriors made a difference? Not sure yet.

I was on site at 7am on Sunday morning near the pyramid and there was a team of about 100 litter pickers out tidying the main field up. I knew that happened but to see it in action showed how good a job they do

i was also a warrior - camping up in wicket... we tried hard to keep it clean and did an okay job!

Me and my mate left a nice clean site, went and got a couple of bin bags when we turned up on site and dropped them off in the waste pen as we left.  Got to say it was quite clean an tidy round near us on Michael's Mead, we were away by 10am Monday though so not sure if many tents were left behind.

I don't know why people persist in taking so much stuff with them , it seems like madness to me. We only had 4 of us camping together but left a half full recycling bag and that was about it. Travel light next year folks and take whatever you bring back with you!

I do think there should be a bit more info about on recycling and where to leave rubbish as it's not always immediately obvious.

Still too many people who leave stuff with the attitude of I've paid my money so someone else can clear up my rubbish for me.

In Cockmill Meadow family camping people seemed to be leaving their pitches spotless.  Also there was a donation point for tents and other items.

Didnt see any Worthy warriors or campsite stewards patrol near us for the entire festival maybe we just missed them , camped between new jp tent and beat hotel was not in 2 bad a state when we left , but generally thought the site was cleaner even saw litter pickers in the daytime near pyramid which I dont think ive ever seen before ?

I cleared up everything but about half my group left their tents despite me pleading with them not to. They weren't trashed, just a bit muddy. I don't get people's logic...you're already leaving with a lot less due to no alcohol to carry. And why would you want to buy a new tent every festival? Mine has done 4 now and ok it got quite muddy this year but I'm sure it will be usable again.

the rubbish around the stone circle on Wednesday was embarressing, not much leave no trace going on there. 

Same goes for the pyramid field the whole weekend, 

shows the free loving hippie types are just as bad as the middle class chair w*nkers. 

and I dread to think how many fag butts are buried in the mud, why do most/some/a lot of smokers think the world is an ash tray?

other than a few recyclable food containers bought on site, we took everything home with us, our rubbish went in our household recycling today, not sure why everyone can't do this?

god I sound like a sanctimonious Eco nutterist, which I really am not, I just detest litter.

My lot draw the line at taking rubbish home but everything was correctly bagged up and dropped at the rubbish/recycling points.  Everything else was taken and will be cleaned ready for next year

It felt to me that there was slightly less litter overall this year than last year - I was litterpicking at John Peel again and there were fewer paper cups / cans / plates / plastic bottles to pick up than last year. Much less glass found too. I was pleased to see that The Wood didn't get trashed - there were a few cans and cups around the fire, but no litter chucked into the trees or anything which was great.

The only place that seemed worse was The Beat Hotel. It was a disgusting filthy carpet of NOS balloons and canisters on all four mornings. 

We left the site at 4.30pm on Monday afternoon and there were A LOT of tents left in the fields we could see - way more than in previous years. I expect a few will go to places where they're desperately needed such as Calais, but sadly thousands will be landfilled. What a waste of precious resources!

Camped in Oxlyers but couldn't get hold of black bin bags or recycling bags anywhere  So we had to make do with small bags we had but still left a bit of a mess. A tad embarrassing as we usually leave it perfect.
