We're travelling down from Liverpool. It's a long drive so don't want to not set off but equally don't want to sit at home! Think we're going to set off and see how things are looking when we're about half way and might end up stopping somewhere for lunch/a little explore and coming to the site later than planned

We're going to leave Plymouth at 8am and head to Taunton. Chill there for a bit and wait for news of how the traffic is. Once things start moving again we will head to site. Feel for those in the traffic jam. Keep the faith - we will all be there soon.

I think it will ease before long, but it sounds that bad at the moment they are now trying damage limitation to try and stop more people adding to the problem. You'd assume by mid-late afternoon everything will be fine, as it is normally by about midday anyway. Obviously opening the CV gates at 6pm has been a disaster but it sounds like the vast majority of CVers ignored the 6pm time anyway which clearly hasn't helped.

A friend of mine who usually works the tractors that help pull cars from the mud (usually leaving the site on Monday) told me that they'd ended their contract this year as they hadn't been needed the last few years. Now, it may be that they've been replaced at the last minute, or it may be that there's no tractors to help cars out of the mud.

We were going to set off from Sheffield now but we will delay a couple of hours then set off. Want to get past Bristol before evening rush hour then we will review and may delay arrival until tomorrow. Thanks for all the updates everyone - it means the rest of us can try not to add to the chaos.

For those travelling from more than a couple of hours away and approaching from the M5 I'd suggest heading to Taunton if things haven't eased. Nice town where at least you can have a wander round, get a bite to eat etc and once things calm down you're only 20 miles or so from the site.

Good luck everyone ☺
