2014's torturous wait was only worth it because of how transcendent Metronomy were that night, I wouldn't suffer it again unless there was something really brilliant on offer. However, I will be front and centre and drunk for The Smyths!

i think they've played early Sunday most years i've been so have been in no mood to be getting up so early, but i think i may just join you on this one! not really sure what Clean Cut Kid is but it's a shame it's in the between as it would've been nice to see The Smyths, see who the first band was and then stay/leave as appropriate

I was woken up really early on Sunday last year. Had an eerie walk around the site for a few hours in the drizzle, in the strange Twilight Zone hours between all the stopouts going to bed when it becomes light, and all the early risers dragging themselves out of bed. Was a weird way to see the festival, but a nice experience. Popped my head in for The Smyths with a small straggly crowd who were clearly up early especially for it, always thought the prospect of cover bands was a bit tragic until then, but I had a fucking great time. The naff campness of it was amazing, everybody shouting along every word, I can imagine it being really something else when the tent is full and everybody's drunk and full of that Thursday excitement.

Never mind all that shillyshallying around. The actual gorblimey canyoubelieveit wonderful once in a lifetime ROCKINGBIRDS are playing Williams Green on Sunday afternoon.

I'll be the fat bloke down the front, bawling like a bairn.

Actually, that'll probably describe over half the audience (12 men, 2 bored girlfriends and a 3 legged dog)

this is just about 25 years old, still the sound of my fucking life

This band are friggin awesome. See you there dude

The first album is one of my all time top 10 records. Brilliant.

i saw them on the Park stage a few years back and it was all a bit much for me.

They are definitely up there with Danny and the Champs, certainly the first album

Saw them supporting Jayhawks but were better headlining the tiny Borderline club in London where they were terrific. Jonathan is a top tune.

We've been listening to them over supper this evening as a result of your recommendation. We like!

Lovely change to have The Smyths on Thursday rather than the early Sunday spot of the last two years. Always a highlight :)

How we managed to squeeze in the tent for them I never know but I made sure we did as love Metronomy, ended up sacking Arcade Fire as headliner on the Friday too to see Metronomy at the Park - they were awesome :)

Don't forget Metronomy did this 2 years ago - are/were they considered radio one fodder? (I wouldn't know! ) Thought they were more 6music?!!

They headlined the Park that year when they played WG so hopefully will be one decent call this year

:o You bloody maniac! The one time the gods smile upon us with a fix for a headliner clash and you see the same one twice? Unbelievable. I'm a massive Metronomy fan, probably much more of a fan than I am for Arcade Fire, but I thought the Arcade Fire set was the best I've seen at Glastonbury; also one of the best I've ever seen. Also I've seen Metronomy approximately 1 million times.

Was there for Alt J and was it Django Django in 2013? Alt J were a particular highlight! Was also in there for the Vaccines secret spot the same year.  Was pretty easy to get a good spot for both and I don't remember arriving particularly early.

My mate is a massive Smyths fan so we will defo be there for that.... Best listen to Clean cut kid and see what that's like.  Hoping we know the secret bands before we go anyway (normally do don't we?)

think we've had a fairly good idea the past few years. looks like we may already have Two Door Cinema Club nailed down, i'm assuming as the second act on, so i may just stay to see who the first is

The guesses of Blossoms and the info on TDCC seem to be on the money really.

My first two guesses before we got day splits were Blossoms and Savages, so with them now both being Friday they're obviously both still looking good bets for it.

If the TDCC info is true that's a bit lame.

Daughter and Hinds also good shouts, and maybe UMO based on them having Thursday down on their tour dates for ages, but they do seem an odd fit for it. It's usually pretty Radio One fodder acts, isn't it? Although I don't listen to Radio One so not sure if they play Savages, Daughter or Hinds at all.

If you google "unknown mortal orchestra tour uk" they appear at the top of the results as Thursday for Glastonbury. Obviously that's not really evidence of a secret set but they must still be listed for Thursday somewhere, so maybe.

Personally would be quite happy with TDCC. They're nothing special of course but I like some of their stuff and it would probably be a better atmosphere than with UMO or Savages as TDCC are more well known, so people who show up not knowing who's on would be more likely to be up for it. Already plan to see UMO on the Friday so don't need to see them Thursday as well. Savages would be great though as I can't fit them in on Friday.

I was stood near one of Hinds during FWF on the Sunday last year - and they played Friday - so I wouldn't rule it out!

Yeah, they've pretty much confirmed they are there for the whole festival this year too so back on for me. Think they'll pop up a couple of times....got my eye on crows nest for them.

One of the most fun bands I've seen in years. Just 4 kids having the time of their lives!

Nope best decision ever, I've seen Metronomy a million times too and met them few times as well. I do not regret seeing them over Arcade Fire, as I really think AF are way too much hit & miss live (plus we saw them at BST that year anyway, which was sh*t tbh)... I've actually come to the conclusion that AF are not that great live but that's just my opinion

Weird that hot new acts like Sundara Karma, Clean Cut Kid, YAK and more are doing just the small William's Green slot this year while the John Peel stage seems to have fewer but more established acts.

I thought exactly the same does seem strange that the bands you mentioned aren't early JP slots, Sundara Karma are main stage at Reading/Leeds. Also they may be booked elsewhere over the weekend but was very surprised to not see Dmas or Pretty Vicious.

Clean Cut Kid are a band worth a watch
