am I the only one who thinks the clashes are planned

so that not too many people are all in one place at one time for a stage that might not handle that many people?

It really does feel that way - too many types of music clashing.
For me, I like a bit of rock, a bit of guitar - and they bunged all of them on at the same time and left gaps of floaty lovely music that this old punk hasn't figured out yet!!

that is my thinking, one time they totally got it wrong is when they put Rolf on Jazz World and there was no one else on really at the same time. Jazz World was the busiest I have ever seen it . you could not move. Next year they put him on the pyramid.

now I hear he is doing shows from his cell, eh gets a smaller audience

Editors V ZZ Top is one for me! Seen Editors loads of times but love them however when will i get the chance to see ZZ again??

^^That's what it boils down too for me too.

Kurt Vile and John Grant is the big one for me too. I suspect JG will win the day based purely on location and I'm a lazy git

exactly - Editors playing Papillon on the other stage has fabulous memories over the years, but the daftness that will be ZZ top on the Pyramid?

But in that slot I need to be in 4 different places anyway - ugh.

the smyths & baggy mondays

all my group want to catch steve davis who is on before so will stick around for baggies in stonebridge

smyths on williams green will be good, ive never checked out baggy mondays so far and no desire to...seems to be `the place to be` that time of the fest.....and places that are `that place to be` are usually packed to the point of ruining the enjoyment and overhyped.....is it really worth it? seen massive lines to get into it last year.

Hmm I really want to see ZZ Top and am wondering if I can leg it afterwards to catch either White Denim (exit stage left for West Holts) or BMTH (exit stage right to The Other).

If went against myself i could ditch Top and do both Proteje and White Denim on West Holts. Decisions, decisions!

Coming to terms with the clashes this morning. How easy is it going to be to get from PJ Harvey to Grimes? I figured I have a couple of options, A. see all of PJ Harvey and catch the end of Grimes. B. see about 20 minutes of PJ Harvey and watch the rest of Mac DeMarco. C. Just watch Mac DeMarco. I've seen Mac twice but haven't seen the other two, but seeing him at Glastonbury would just top it off. I'll probably make my decision when I'm there. My brain hurts.

I was worried about missing Hinds for Heaton & Abbot but reading what they tweeted I'm hopeful that I'll see Hinds elsewhere!

Could they possibly do the Williams Green Thursday night slot? Could a more seasoned Glastonbury attendee tell me how busy that place gets on a Thursday and do we normally find out in advance who'll be on there?

Cheers

I've decided that Super Hans is definitely happening - especially as it means I'm in the right spot for Mercury Rev in the Park 30 mins after. Nice double-header there - then a dash to New Order.

White Denim vs Explosions in the Sky vs Foals - Will probably watch the beginning of White Denim and leave in time for Foals

Muse vs Sigur Ros - I've seen Muse a couple of times before, and as good as they are live, their new stuff has gone down hill and Sigur Ros are a must see for me

Madness vs Band of Skulls - Tough one, will probably stay at the pyramid after Wolf Alice out of convenience.

Tame Impala vs Chvrches - Still unsure on this one. Love Chvrches but I've never seen Tame Impala. Will probably just wing it on the night.

ELO vs Raleigh Ritchie - Another one I'm unsure of, and I'm probably the only person around here who has this clash, but I'm a big fan of Raleigh Ritchie. Will probably come down to my mood on the day.

it is usually PACKED and people just wait around that area cos they know it will be someone.

Don't usually look at my phone over the weekend but waiting around outside in other years it's usually known by people in proximity who it will be. Not sure how much earlier they find out though!

I would look at PJ & Grimes combo, get yourself at top right of other stage and leave 10-15mins early to get to Grimes as straight path up from that corner of the field (even though through a few people)...I'm doing Grimes full set then dash to WH to catch 2nd half of EW&F

I've done Other to WH in 15mins and I was at the barrier at the Other, so where there is a will there's a way lol :)

it's getting busier & busier, it was crazy for Wolf Alice last year!! you can usually find out who's playing from this site or secret glasto on twitter

Depending who is playing I might sack this off this year as the crowd scared me last year

Ha cool, yeah PJ + Grimes probably makes more sense, my sense of direction is terrible though, this year will only be my second time at Glastonbury so hoping to get more familiar with my surroundings.

On Friday afternoon Vince Staples, Gentleman's Dub Club, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and YAK all clash, before I HAVE to see Ezra Furman, who then overlaps with Protoje on West Holts. Then I'll have to sacrifice some/all of White Demin or Explosions In The Sky for Foals, then miss Richard Hawley for Kano.

Saturday Braids and Vessels on Glade overlap with Kurt Vile and Ernest Ranglin at the Park, and I'm going to have to choose which sets I cut short to make the dash between.

I'm tired just thinking about all that rushing around!

yeah thats the one.  If my missus wasnt with me ( and I was 20 years younger)  I think I'd be on a mission!

Ha ha, quite! Will certainly keep eyes peeled for them. And they do fit the mould of Thursday night acts so could well be in WG.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
