I enjoyed them at BST, had a great time.  Beck was also great.

Excellent, looking forward to new music. Thought the last album was a much better attempt than the previous.

Yep 2011, it was pathetic really. You get that occasionally at TITP though, which has always been a slight low point of the festival for me

i saw them headline rockness a few years ago and they were brilliant! i'd see them again but it wont be anytime soon i don't think.

Yup, I was there too, one of my favourites. Great end to the festival

It isn't beyond possible, however based on that they have a reputation of demanding quite large sums of money to play, the fact they have no European tour dates etc. Makes them highly unlikely. Its a shame because this would be the first band I would jump at seeing if they were playing the UK again, missed them at Hyde park last year.

Hm, hadn't thought about the money.

Having headlined R&L a few years back I think they could definitely do it, given that they've got new material on the way too. But yes, as you said, highly unlikely.

I think if they were going to do it they would've stepped into The Libertines slot last year, given they were over at the time for BST last year. Can't see it happening.

Would be happy enough with a new album and a UK tour though.

Yeah this is a thing. If people aren't expecting one of the most laid back bands on the planet then they will often be a bit disappointed.

Also I think if Tom Petty sued everyone who had a song sounding like one of his, he would never get nowt done. Guy wrote all the songs already!

Back to the Strokes. Not holding out much hope for a proper tour; I think they'll next play UK in a R+L headline capacity next year. Looking forward to catching this new song this evening tho.

Thoughts? I quite like it but it doesn't sound particularly new or exciting...in fact it's pretty Strokes-by-numbers I think. Still, better than crap!

Thought it built up nicely. Beginning is pretty standard Strokes stuff but towards the end it jumps up a couple of notches. Can see it being a bit of a slow burner.

Yeah not sure what I think about that one, hopefully the EP is a warm up for a new album.

Annie Mac just premiered Threat of Joy and played Oblivious again, alongside an interview with Julian.. he seemed on good form but shot down her question about UK dates and said there's nothing planned  Maybe The Strokes can replace Prince as the perennial Glastonbury rumour which is realistically never gonna happen

Oblivius is quite good - sort of a standard fare tune for Strokes in recent years. Drag Queen is great - pretty Voidz-y, which is no bad thing as that was a fantastic leap forward for Jules. Bit gutted if the EP is all they're doing.

Absolutely love this one! This is old Strokes at their finest!! Hoping this means they've found form again for a new album. All three are great actually.

Can we all begin to pray they're announced next week?!
